Looking for new wad for my optima 12ga blackpowder
« on: August 22, 2008, 04:56:12 AM »
Any advice on a new wad for my optima? Been using cva wads and I hate them. I am not getting good patterns with them. I have tried different powder and different amounts of shot and I think its the wads.

I use a Federal shot cup style wad, modified with a wrap of masking tape, over a 1/2 felt spacer with a 1/8 overshot wad in my New Englander and am real good patterns with #5 lead shot.
90 grains of RS with a #11 cap. Screw in Modified choke patterns closer to full choke at 30 yards.

I use the multi metal wads from ballistic products in a couple ML shotguns with good success.

PS these are the same wads knight sells for the TK2000 only buying direct saves a bunch of $$
