I got tired of having cats in my yard killing all the Robins, Grouse, and Baby Bunnies. I started shooting them. Then after hearing a few people were trying to locate their animals I decided to let people know what was going on. We have a lease law that pertains to Dogs and Cats. Every Spring and Fall we have a meeting for our road service area. It included my subdivision, and the three surrounding it. At the meeting I handed out a notice about how I was tired of loose cats killing the wildlife in my yard. From this point on any loose animals on my six acres, (We have two acre lots, and I bought the two lots on each side of mine.) Cats or Dogs, would be shot on sight. This created a big outcry. Most of the people agreed with me, and a few admitted they had already been doing that themselves. I reminded the cat owners of the lease law, and said we had every right to protect the wildlife on our property. Only seen one cat this summer, but a neighbor beat me to it. It belonged to a new family that had just moved in. They had been given a copy of the covenants for our subdivision which stated no loose running animals. They came to my house looking for their cat. I told them I had seen it but it ran away before I could get off a shot. I reminded them about the lease law, and the covenants, the lady got mad and said cats could not be kept on a lease, they had to run loose. I said then expect it to get shot. They left in a huff. I was telling a neighbor about them, he asked if it was a big Black and White? Yes. Forget about it? OK. Enough said.
