CZ 550fs stock
« on: August 24, 2008, 10:54:33 AM »
hi guys,
I was thinking about changing the stock on my CZ 550 fs 9.3x62mm to one of the
after market stocks and was wondering if the stock from a standard Mauser or howa would fit.
If anybody changed their stock I would like to know what you did.

J.J.,

Any stock you choose to replace the factory stock with that is not specifically inletted for the CZ will require some degree of inletting/bedding to make it fit.

I did figure I would have to do some inletting, but which stock
is the closest to the CZ 550 fs.  Other mauser's don't have a
second recoil lug, no problem, I can cut another slot, With all
the people out there somebody must have changed this stock.
Midway sells Bell & Carlson, ramline, Hogue, Boyds, Buttler Creek
and McMillan; one of them must be close.
Thanks for any input.

JJ,

I didn't know that the FS had a lug on the barrel, but as you say, that should not be any big deal to handle.  I can't say with any certainty which stock manufacturer's mauser inlettling would be closest to the CZ.  Some emails to each company's customer service might give you some answers, and would indicate which one is easiest to deal with.

I believe I would pick a stock based on style, material, and price; get some Accraglass, chisels, and maybe break out the Dremel, and have at it.  Best of luck with your project.  Wish I had a 9.3 myself!

Thanks for responding, e-mailed most stock makers, Hogue said nobody ever asked that before
and didn't know, HS presion said no, CZ did not respond to 2 e-mails even when I offered to
buy another stock.  I agree with any Mauser action, stocks made for Interarms mark X or Charles
Daily are the closest.  Let you know what happens.
