6.5 Swede

I would like a carbine barrel in the 6.5 Swede; however, TC says the pressure is too high.  I doubt that the round would be too hot.  Any experience?

If you're talking a carbine barrel for the Contender? The 6.5x55 is too hot!!  (The mfgr is generally right on such matters). onesonek

In a Contender you'd be over pressure for sure.  The Swede is pretty much equivalent to a .260 Remington, and you sure don't see those in a Contender.  If you really want a 6.5mm on a Contender, look into something like the 6.5TCU (.223 necked up) or the 6.5JDJ.

If you've got an Encore, there's no reason not to go for the Swede.  I've got a bolt gun in 6.5X55 and would love a 20-22" barrel for my Encore to go with it.

I never gave a thought till DR brought it up. But a 6.5 BRM by EABCO, would be another option. It's plenty for deer out to 300yds. If I remember right the 6.5 JDJ, has a 225 Win. parent case. The BRM uses a 30-30. I believe the two are similar in performance, with maybe a slight edge for the BRM. And neither are far behind the 6.5 Swede factory loads.  :D  onesonek
