What happened to the S&W 2204 and 2206
« on: August 27, 2008, 05:51:26 AM »
I bought a 2204 years ago to fill a niche, a light 22 pistol to carry while hunting and hiking. Mine is as accurate as I can shoot such a light hangun and it has taken all manner of small game and a couple of coyotes. It's also been very reliable clean or dirty. Dirty to me is after 100 rounds and before 300 rounds, then it's time to clean.  The newer 22 semi's seem to be large and much heavier in general.  I bought the 2204 to replace my old Ruger MK1.

I think they've been updated to the 22A series of pistols?

Aren't the 22A models more for target shooting? The range is fine but a lot of target pistols are good for targets and riding on the dash of a truck mostly.

It's a shame you never see a date when articles like that are written?? I've owned 10 or so in the last 12-13 years and I'm still looking for one with any/all the failures mentioned in the article? I do think the article is spot on with regards to company profits, = why produce a $350 pistol that you only make 100% profit when you can sell one for $700+ and make 500%.

Still for the money I like the 2206.
