I love Remingtons. My last Palma rifle was built on a 700 BDL with a 40X .308 barrel in it. I always wished I could have utilized all the potential in that rifle.
One of the best in my safe is a #1 sporter, 28" barrel, .45/70 rolling block. They have always been good rifles.
Never had anything to do with 7mm08. My late Uncle would have loved it, he was always in love with the cartridges built around the .308 brass. (just don't show it to Brithunter)

I had a stainless Model 7 in 7mm-08.  After shooting a small whitetail buck with it several times, I went back to the .308 for a few years.  I now use a .30-06 exclusively in a bolt action rifle.

You can't beat a Remington.
