BOATS
« on: August 28, 2008, 02:58:33 PM »
I use a canoe out of necessity. Boats are by far, my favorite mode of water trapping transportation. I have used everything from an 8 footer to a 14 foot ,deep and wide.
Oars are used whenever possible---I like quiet when trapping. The big lakes on my northern beaver line, are most times traversed by using a motor.
 Any boat trappers out there?
 Tom

As long as the water stays up I use a boat. I can cover a lot more ground with the motor.

Indians in Alaska make a little fiberglass canoe that they drag from pond to pond. We bought a couple because the were small enough to tie on the struts of a supercub. The boats had almost no freeboard when us big yankees got in them. We used to joke that if you turned your hat sideways you might swamp.
