Model 70 Westerner in 222 Remington Magnum
« on: August 30, 2008, 06:14:22 AM »
Any collector value? Rifle is in like new condition and has very nice wood. It is I think made in the late 60's, has the long action (push feed of course) set up for the small cartridge by blocking.

No not really. Post '64 M70s are not collector's guns and really have value only as shooters. The .222 Remington Magnum has never gained any popularity among shooters and in fact generally it would lower not raise the value to most. I've always kinda wanted a .222 Mag but never taken any action to get one in spite of that desire. Some day maybe I'll run across a good buy in a Remington rifle so chambered and get one.

That's how I look at it. I have 2 223's, a 22-250 and a 204 ruger so the rifle won't fill any niche I don't have covered.
