I'll probably go with the 270 Win

Everyone should have a Snazzy lookin rifle somewhere in the cabinet and that B&C should do it if you don't already have one.

I have a pretty rifle... a Model 70 Featherweight that I bought back in the 80's. So I am not particularly in the market right now for another one.  But if I was, that B&C CDL surely would fit the bill.  It almost looks too nice to ding up in the woods.

What other calibers do they come in?

All Long Actions?

Or do they also come in Short Action?

If you don't have a .30-06, I'd get a .30-06.  The Remington CDLs are great looking and shooting rifles.

The X-Mark Pro™ Trigger makes the greatest rifle of all times even better.  I have that same trigger on my new M700 ADL, and I love it.

It is my opinion that if I wanted one of those B&C CDL's (which I don't), I would definitely go for the .270 WSM.  No two ways about it.

Of all of the Super-Duper-High-Fallutin-150fps-Faster Magnums that come out in the last few years, the .270 WSM may be the only one that makes it with enough backing to keep it around.

I don't care about the B&C part of it.  I just like the long fluted barrel and the laminated stock.

Since Winchester and Browning have wisely dropped the WSMs, I think I'd stick with something that I'd be able to get brass for.

If I have a job for something like that I have a 300 Wby: 82 gr RL 22  and 180 gr Hornady Interlock.

But yes if I was forced to choose a WIZZUM it would be the 270

If you mean that you're actually going to use this rifle for hunting, as opposed to letting it sit around collecting dust for the next 20 years, then I would get the .30-06 or the .270.  Same difference.

But if it is going to be a cabinet dweller like most people do with limited editions with hopes of someday getting your money back out of it, then I would get the super-duper .270 mag or none at all.  If it's going to sit around you won't need more than a box or two of ammo just in case you can sell the rifle in the future, so availability of ammo isn't an issue.  So look closely at your real intended use of this piece before you have any regrets as a rifle that has 1, 2 or 3 shots thru it at the range is considered used and not NIB (unfired).

I use my Featherweight on bright, sunny days.  But it gets used in the woods.  It's a pain in the butt with a 22" barrel, but it gets the job done when I need it to.

Dude, I told you before.  The B&C part has nothing to do with it. Its the platform:  laminated stock and 24" barrel.  I want a full size long action 270.  Its not sitting around. I have about five scopes ready for a gun and the minute I get it I will already have loads made up for it.
The 700 ADL is a much better deal but it has a 22" barrel and I'm not sure what (if) I'm giving up with ADL vs BDL vs CDL.
I'll take any one if it has a laminated stock and a long barrel, though I'm not a fan of that green shiny laminate.

What do you mean about your 22" barrel?

What do you mean about your 22" barrel?

When walking thru the woods with a longer barrel it tends to be a pain.  Even a 22" barrel can catch alot of tree branches when the rifle is shouldered.  It hardly ever fails... you bend over to clear a branch and the barrel catches wood.

Get accustomed to carrying it in both hands when you are in the woods.

Perhaps he doesn't hunt "in the woods" not everyone does just cuz you and me do. That's why I love the 20" barrels of my Model Sevens so much and that 18.5" of the original M7 now my wife's primary hunting rifle was really nice as it never caught on anything.

I keep looking at these B&Cs and they are really nice.

I wish I could afford to have a .30-06 and get the custom shop to build me a.....

.223 & a .375H&H

Add a  Model 547 & an 870 with a couple of choke tubes and you would have the perfect setup IMO.

Swamp,
who told you that Browning is dropping the WSMs?

The WSMs are not listed in the newest Browning catalog.  Seems they are now history.

They are listed on their website on the X-Bolt. Heres a link.

Rumor on the street is that they are going away.  Maybe they haven't updated the website.

HMMMM!  I don't seem to have any problems sneaking around in the woods here in Michigan with my 26" Winchester M70 w/BOSS, and I hunt some pretty nasty thick cover.

Sure would like to get ahold of one of those 18 1/2" M7s that GB mentioned though ;)

I have one in 7mm-08 and really like it. I took two deer with it this year. IMR 4350, 140 gr Sierra spitzer and CCI BR2 primers work out for one heck of a load in this rifle.

The bullets are seated out to .005 of not touching the lands and will still fit and feed within the magazine well.

A really nice rifle and this one has a permanent home with me.
