Moa handguns?
« on: August 31, 2008, 04:58:32 PM »
I posted a couple days ago with a question about a couple different calibers for deer.  I have a chance to buy an MOA single shot with a 7mm benchrest barrel and 22lr barrel for $500, is that a good deal?  I don't really find much info on them, I'd rather have a TC encore but I was wondering if this is a good deal, I see list prices on the website around $800?

I had an MOA in .45 Colt for a while. It was very accurate but suffered from extractor problems, which I hear is common. $ 500 is a good price for one with 2 barrels, but I personally prefer the Encore for a hunting gun. The guy I sold mine to loves it, personal choice.

Personal preference:
I would choose a MOA any day over a a Encore or Contender.
It is a stronger action, free floated barrel.
I have had  break opens, and they are harder to tweak for accuracy than a MOA.
i am using bottleneck cartridges not rimmed.

At that price I would think hard about it... Every MOA I have seen was priced I took my money and for a bit more purchased a XP-100
