Hot & Dry -- Game report
« on: September 02, 2008, 03:00:40 AM »
The Beans are dieing off , the corn looks like crap BUY the Deer herds look fat and sassy , should make for a great hunting season this fall , Haven't seen as many dead coon on the roads this year , any one heard if their numbers are down this year ?

For us yote hunters the numbers ( around here anyhow ) are way up , but I plan to take care of that .  ;D That may explain why the Groundhog numbers seam to be down this summer , I was only able to get about half of what I shot last summer .

Whats it like in your area ?

Stimpy,

Yep, hot dry, tomatoes look like death warmed over, don't ask about the rest of the garden, it is dead. No ground hogs this year, but I have one in the back yard in the middle of the dang city! Going to introduce him to the .22 short when I get a chance at him. The few deer I have seen look good which is surprising. Coyotes are everywhere, but run too fast so far, and there was a report of a wolf sighting at the prison on 63 near Lebanon about a month ago. So other than that all is hot, dry and dead here.

Southeastern Ohio , Greened up just a little after last weeks rain.. Population on Groundhogs ,Yotes ,Coons all down.  Red Fox ,Deer, and Turkey up for a change.
If we could just keep the U.C.L.A. Crowd at home this year, next Might be even better! LOL
Expecting more rain this weekend That should help all of Ohio.

mas

Looks like you did good , bet you sweated your butt off though .  ;D

Were you in a ground blind or a boat blind ? I bent up some conduit for a buddy last year to use hanging camo net on his boat , worked slick and was easy to set up and take down .

sk330lc

Its so dry up here I'm afraid to toss a cig butt in the yard for fear it may start a brush fire and burn down the house .  :o

We need rain bad , weatherman says only 30% chance tomorrow night and then nothing for another week .And to make matters worse , their re-doing the road in front of my house so I have all the stone dust to deal with too .   >:(

Layouts. I had watched the same 2 families come to one of my fields for 2 weeks straight. And on Monday, right on time at 7:10am they came on in. 12 shells from 5 guns, and we had 13 birds on the dirt.

I have plenty of coons.  Groundhog numbers are down except for the one under my porch (a really sneaky one).  As for coyotes; I haven't seen any around here this year but saw them a number of times last year.

Been seeing a lot of spotted fauns and a lot of dead coon on the roads around here. Also seeing several squirrels and geese, before season came in and none since. Also Missed a coyote last week, didn`t realize the wind saw so strong and didn`t alow for drift on a 500 yrd shot.  ::)

The only reason it worked for them is because they continued to dance until it rained. :D :D :D

We did manage to get about 1/4" last night , still need about 3" more to get were we should be , does look like another chance this weekend though .

The nice thing is that some of the leaves are starting to drop , helps to see those little Tree Rats .  ;D
