I see that they shipped it in 2 packages so one must be my action and the other the 7MM-08
man do I have my fingers cross
I think the first step will see how the old barrel fits on lock up to the action 30-06

Well it finally here the action and new 7MM-08 barrel,I did scratch the old barrel to make sure it was not shimmed but they did replace it with a new barrel.I did look to see if they did any work to my action they did not.I can say this replacement barrel locks up tighter then the original 30-06 barrel
My 06 will lock up on 4 thousands and this one the new barrel 3 thousand  the chamber needs a little J@B bore paste  the 7MM-08 brass it real tight at the base of the case also firing the brass will re size it self to fit this barrel.
I will say from what I see when they grind the under lug it by eye  don't think they use a jig .I hope on sat: I will get a chance to shoot it and that will tell the rest of the story because the other barrel did lock up until about 10 rounds and the play started:I will get back to you with a report from the range test:I have to say no problems so far.

I had to spend sometime with a bore brush and some J@B bore paste and some Kroll
I almost had second thought if the barrel would be pitted but it clean up A O.K.
Like I said a rage session will tell if it pass and will stay tight on the action.
I can tell you if I have any problems I am going to shim it myself.

H&R never has cleaned the bores, whether new or accessory barrels, they're always dirty since they test fire every firearm, not just a sampling, so there's nothing new there. But also not problem on centerfire firearms, it would be nice if they at least cleaned the muzzleloaders tho due to the nature of BP subs.

I clean my cartridge guns about once a year.  That's all they need.  I clean my muzzleloaders right after I shoot them, but you'd be suprised what they can endure without pitting or damage.

Depends of the weather.  In the winter, probably yes.  Not in the summer.  I have a stainless barrel on my Sidekick.  I don't worry so much.

Or are you just Remington employees?  If you order a cheesburger and it gets to the table raw do you take that or demand it be recooked?  And trust me I WON'T BUY ANYMORE OF THEIR PRODUCTS!!! But I want what I PAID for in good condition.  If that sounds like whining to you fine.  If you don't want to know about the poor service Remington has provded, don't read the posts about it.

I've yet to recieve a new in the box gun, that I didn't scub the bore on anyway.  Every gun i've bought, has had powder residue where they factory test fired the gun.  Not really a big deal.  Just the factory's way of doing a quick check to make sure the gun doesn't blow up in your face... the bbl needs scrubbing anyhow... you could have the factory do a cleaning, but thats just going to jack up the price on labor, and their mostly likely just going to run a couple patches down the bbl...

I'd say that the cheeseburger analogy isn't completly correct... Thats more like saying if the gun came in without being blued... thats a more correct analogy.  Because then thats skipping a crucial step in the mfg process...

We'll put it like this...If you order a cheeseburger, and it comes w/ pickles, and you didn't want pickles, scrape the pickles off and eat it anyhow... it still tastes fine, the product wasn't inferior just because it had a pickle on it...

I see your point but I also agree with KEVINSMITH5 somewhat.
I can live with a test fire but real crud in the barrel or action to me is a sing of poor business.
If you buy a new car or truck and they pull it around out front for you to take home on a nice bright sunny day and it is filthy would you still take it or ask for a wash job? NO DIFFERENCE!

Why is it on here that if someone has a problem with something and so far no one else has had the same problem than it must be that persons fault.
If only a few have the problem than it is whining.
From the posts I have read there seems to be more that a few who have had issues with BIG GREEN.

I know that the move process will take a little time to iron out all of the problems but sounds like they are off to a bad start.
As a business owner I know that the best thing you can do for customer relations is to make sure everything is right before you present it to a customer. Nothing kills the buyers taste faster than a flat tire or a dead battery, and no I am not in auto sales.

Just as most of you I work very hard for my money and I expect to get what I pay for.
If it's new than it better look new.
I can tell you that if I sent one of my guns or anything else for that matter, and it was clean when I sent it in for work and it came back dirty or with damage or didn't work the way it was suppose to I would be on the phone to whom ever it took to make it right.
Why should you expect anything less?
I for one want to here about them.
How else are we to know what to expect.

Just my thoughts on the matter, and I bet a lot of other members also!

Would you rather have your barrel arrive with a dirty bore or take the chance on someone at the factory messing up the crown or rifling cleaning it for you.

Personally I would rather take the time and clean it myself and not risk it being damaged by someone else.

The dirty truck is a better analogy I think... valid point tom... I would be pissed if I just bought a brand new jeep and it had a healthy layer of dust on it...

To me it not a big deal to clean a barrel and if the company like Remington can't clean a rifle correct are they gunsmiths or shoemakers.
I had many dealing with t/c and have to say they are a little more to extend customer relations in many ways ,I yet heard any one say bad things about Thompson center.I had a few repair done on my flintlock:Rifle when in clean was returned the same way after test firing.
I also had dealing with springfield armory on my 1911 another excellent company both in repairs and customer service
T/C warranty is life time and it does not matter if it the original owner or not if it there gun,m/l and it breaks they will repair it as long as the item is still available
or credit you with another firearm even at there lost $$
I think it may take awhile for Remington to get on its feet but this in not the only forum that has complaints about the company.I had dealing with them back in the 70's on a BDL and it was smooth as silk on repairs and service.

I am sure with "healthy" discussions those issues will correct themselves eventually.

If someone wants to voice their concerns with friends here in the "NEF TALK" forum so that they may know what to expect, I do not see the need to brow beat them or whine about "Here's another one!!"

I am personally glad to know of the troubles and will wait for a bit to use the BAP at BIG GREEN until some more favorable results are achieved.
