92 SRC
« on: September 02, 2008, 03:56:49 PM »
 Does anyone use a Rossi Interarms 92 SRC and if so how good are they? I have a chance to get one about 95% for $375 U S.

Dunno what SRC means but I've owned three of the Rossi made M92s and still have one of them. All have been well made guns shoot accurately and that price seems reasonable.

SRC= Saddle Ring Carbine
The Rossi '92 is a good rifle. It's also hell for strong. I've got one in .454 Casull. Out of the box they are sometimes a bit clunky for SASS shooting, but there are some excellent gunsmiths out there (Steve Young aka Nate Kiowa Jones is one) who slick them up for a reasonable price. My .454 was done by Steve, and I shoot .45 Colt out of it for cowboy shooting. Works good.

Not sure of the SRC length, but if you plan on using it for SASS shooting, make sure it will hold 10 rounds. Otherwise, you will be loading a round on the clock for most stages.

My first was a 20" octagon barrel imported by EMF chambered to .45 Colt. I used it in SASS matches and it held ten round so I'm pretty sure all the .45 Colt rifles regardless of barrel length do at least those 20" or longer for sure. Mine needed no smoothing up at all it was match ready right from the box. So was the second with 24" barrel but I didn't buy it new so can't say for sure it didn't have some smoothing done to it. My .357 Magnum is still unfired but I've operated it a bit and it too seems smooth enough that if I wanted to it would work in a match also.
