.41, .44, and .45 Colt with AA #7...
« on: September 02, 2008, 05:42:10 PM »
I posted a thread a few months ago on using AA #5 in a .41, 44, and 45 Colt loads.  Well, I just realized today I don't have any #5.  What I actually have is 5-6lbs of AA #7.

So, anyone using #7 in their .41 Mag, .44 Mag, or .45 Colt?  I have a couple Blackhawks in the aforementioned calibers, and I'm looking to get around 1000-1100fps in the respective guns.  I'll be using 210-225gr bullets in the .41, 240-250gr in the .44, and 255's in the Colt.  I'm not looking for max velocities, just some mid level loads to carry in the woods.  Thanks!

I've used #7 in two of my .45LCs with decent results, although it worked best in my .32 H&R.  Here is starting load data from Accurate:

.41 Mag - 210 Hornady - 12.8 grains #7 - 1214 fps

.44 Mag - 240 Hornady - 15.6 grains #7 - 1245 fps

.45 LC(Ruger only) - 250 Nosler - 13.7 grains #7 -    971 fps
.45 LC(Ruger only) - 250 Nosler - 15.2 grains #7 - 1103 fps - MAX LOAD
