Reload Data for Remington Bullets
« on: September 03, 2008, 07:54:33 AM »
Hey guys does anyone know where to find reload data for remington rifle bullets for 243 win? I have looked at hodgdon, accurate, alliant, etc websites and they list loads only for speer, horndady, nosler, etc the higher end stuff. Its probably them showing loads for their own brands of bullets. Im trying to find loads for remington bullets becuz they're relatively cheaper for plinking and things like that. I also notice that alot of load data use winchester cases. Is it ok to use other brands such as federal cases as long as I use starting loads. I plan to keep loads on the light side. Thanks.

IIRC the LYMAN manuals of old had them included...

Remington does not publish load data for their bullets nor does any one else that I know of, as you have found out. In that case I find a bullet of the same weight and similar construction and use the data for that bullet. If it is a soft point for varmints, then find data for a similar bullet for Speer, Sierra, Hornady or any bullet data for the same purpose (varmints). If you look in a Speer manual they list 3 different bullets at 100 grains for the same data; Hornady lists 4 bullets at 95 - 100 grains using the same data; and Sierra lists 3 bullets of 70 - 75 grains and 3 bullets of 80 - 85 grains, each group has their own set of data. What does this mean? As long as you are using the same weight bullet as the data listed and you do not substitute a solid copper bullet for a jacketed one, or vise versa, you will be fine. As with any data do not load into the lands and start at the low end of your chosen data and work your way up. When you start loading over the upper pressure limit, you are on your own and no amount of data will help you any way. Good Luck and Good Shooting

That post about Nosler making Rem and others was news to me.
I am currently reloading some Remington 9MM 124gr. JHP bullets and have found no data specific to them.  I do as others have mentioned - find some data for other bullets that seem similar and be CAREFUL.  9MM can be a little touchy anyway.  My son asks why I bother reloading for this caliber since I can buy cheap 9MM at Wal-Mart.  I guess I like to experiment and spend time at the reloading bench.

When Dupont owned both Remington and IMR, most all the IMR load data used Remington bullets (the cost-effective ones, not the Nosler-made high-end projectiles).  That data is obsolete, but I prefer it to substituting different brands of bullets which have different hardness, bearing surface, diameters, etc.  The requested data is still available:

As always, work up carefully.  Have fun.
