One thing I thought that was interesting were the people on stage making fun of Obama's first job out of college; a community organizer.  Ya, it was some faith-based thing to help people who lost their jobs when local factories closed.  What makes their comments so interesting is that their theme for the convention's first day was "SERVICE," and then a few days later make fun of a guy for doing exactly that. ???

  jtd48....;

McCain and Palin were totally correct when she said she the "put it on E-bay"..which she actually did. She eventually sold the
Westwind II jet through a broker, simply because nobody met the E-bay reserve price.
The fact to remember..She did sell the private jet, unlike Nancy Pelosi..who when she became "shreiker of the house" demanded a
private jet equal to Air Force one !!! Being an independent, I'm sure you will join this independent in condemning such ridiculous
extravagance such as Pelosi is guilty of ....right ?

Get your history straight ! Eva Braun was a simple minded, shrinking violet that ignored the evils perpetrated by her sweetheart, just
so she could be with him..You must admit, Palin is no "shrinking violet" and nobody with a bit of gray matter would consider her simple,
  least of all Joe Biden.
A powerful woman from the WW2 era was Ilsa Koch.."the B_t_h of Buchenwald" who was adept at torturing and even skinning
people in the concentration camp her husband, Commandant Karl Koch commanded.
Ilsa Koch was a woman who gained her position of power because she was married to a man who obtained much power. It was
through her partnership with him that she was able to do all kinds of wicked things...do we see a parallel in recent US history ?

  Dakota:
Not sure if you know just what a "community organizer" is..What do you think they are organizing for ?   And who are they organizing
against ? If you rack your memory.."community organizer" is often a term connected with unruly protests, as well as minor and major
riots. Obama did all his "organizing" in Chicago, a city that this summer has had more murders than all of Iraq !
Factually; "community organizer" is where the organizations such as Socialists, Communists & other groups hide their potential leaders
(with pay) until they are fully groomed for further action.
Has anyone noticed that it is the places where there are plenty of "community organizers" that they have plenty of "community
riots' and "community crime" ?... ;)
"Community organizer" is one of those misnomers..rather like calling a woman of the streets a "marriage counsellor".. ;D

We should all remember that perhaps the best indicator of a person's character is with whom they keep company. Sarah Palin has
friends who are hockey moms, PTA members, church members, hunters, fishermen and everyday Alaskans  (who are a fine, but
independent lot..which irritates the Socialists ). No Rev Wright, no Wm Ayers, Minister Farrakhan or Somali militia uniforms in her life.
..And as she said; " I have ALWAYS been proud of my country".
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Ironglow, you gotta take Dakota's comments in context as he says he is a Obama supporter, and  plans to vote for him. The thing about the filthy liberals is that they will say or do anything that supports thier canidate, no matter how hypocritical or immoral. But then again how can we expect any kind of morality or even the slightest bit of decency from a bunch of people that are for murdering babys.

what a crock! she&maccain both lied about selling the jet on ebay,it was never sold on ebay.she was for the bridge to no-where befor she was against it,
and she still spent the money, and they said the jet was sold at a profit, when it actually was sold for a loss!

You're twisting her words.  She said she "put it on E-Bay", not sold it on E-bay.

I didn't here her or anyone say that the jet was sold at a profit.  However, with the sale of the jet Alaska no longer has to pay for fuel, insurance, maintenance, and an on call pilot and crew for the jet.  Bottom line... Alaska saves money.

As to the bridge to nowhere, Yes, she initially was for the bridge but re-thought it when she saw that the cost was getting out of hand for that one project and decided that the funds would be better spent on a number of smaller infrastructure related projects.  Sounds like good stewardship to me.

Why don't you talk to Sourdough and others from Alaska that know the truth?

Brett,,,that may be carefully what she said from the script. But no doubt the 'imagery' she was trying to create and allow to perpetuate was that she SOLD it on Ebay. It is OK with me and a small point...I give her pass for it given the hyperbole of the event. There is other things that require a closer look most likely, with her new found national emergence and signing on with the RNC and all.

..TM7

"imagery"?  isn't that what politicians are all about on both sides of the isles?   The fact is what she said was the truth.  She did place the jet on E-bay.  You can't fault her because the lone bidder renigged on the deal.   Time will tell if she will stand up to the intense scrutiny that I'm sure she will encounter. But from what I have been hearing from Alaskan's here and on other forums I think she will fair well.

TM:  The imagery is that she got rid of the darned thing.  We called it "Arrogance One".

The Democrats and liberal media, are so scared they are doing a full out smear campaign on her to try and stop her.  The lies are flying, and the spin masters are weaving anything said into a mass of untruths.  They realize she has blown their Coke snorting, illegitimate, inexperienced, socialist, Chicago (wanna-be) thug, right out of the water.  (I normally would not have used the term Illegitimate, but since the Democrats keep bring it up, why not).  Realistically there is no way he can compete with her, and she is not even the candidate running against him.

To top everything else, now someone is calling for DNA test to prove Trig is not her baby.  They claim Trig is Bristol's.  Darn, the Alaska People saw her during her pregnancy (me for one), we also saw Bristol during the same time.  Sara was pregnant, Bristol was not.  17 year old girl in jeans can't hide a pregnancy during the seventh and eighth months.  Just more lies and untruths to try and smear her good name through the dirt.

I will say this:  I don't agree with her religious views.   But I do have the utmost respect for her, because she is true to her views.  She stands up for what she feels is right, and I can live with that.

Like lionhunter says, I think Obama has a hidden agenda, and that scares the heck out of me.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

She said she put it on EBAY...she did,  I'm guesing to prove a point and rub some salt in the wound....but just a guess.  What's the diff...it happened.  End of story.  Sold for a loss?  He-he...a used Jet does not gain in value anymore than a used car would...and she didn't buy it, someone else did.  Just the fuel, maint. crew,  pilot, and up keep was a huge cost in itself...sounds to me like the EX governor spent some money he didn't eed to, and she salvaged what she could.

The reason they will go after her, is she poses a threat to a different kind of people...a 25 year threat maybe, and that scares some people.
Almost as scared as they were when Clarence Thomas got to the high court.  He also represented something different...not the norm.
I hope she weathers the storm.  Funny...The country is hollering about change...when they get some, they faint...not sure they can handle change.

Since is cost about $10,000.00 an hour to fly a private jet, it's tough to sell one at any price these days.

This is an exerpt from TIME:

Catholic Democrats is expressing surprise and shock that Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's acceptance speech tonight mocked her opponent's work in the 1980s for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  She belittled Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's experience as a community organizer in Catholic parishes on the South Side of Chicago, work he undertook instead of pursuing a lucrative career on Wall Street.  In her acceptance speech, Ms. Palin said, "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."  Community organizing is at the heart of Catholic Social Teaching to end poverty and promote social justice.

So you ridicule someone who goes out immediately after college to help the poor?!  To me, it sounds like a very Christian thing to do....

Dakota, try this one on for size.  This is from Real Clear Politics:

Quote
What deserves derision is "community organizing" that relies on a community of homeless people and ex-cons to organize for the purpose of registering dead people to vote, shaking down corporations and using the race card as a bludgeon.

As I've reported previously, Obama's community organizing days involved training grievance-mongers from the far-left ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). The ACORN mob is infamous for its bully tactics (which they dub "direct actions"); Obama supporters have recounted his role in organizing an ambush on a government planning meeting about a landfill project opposed by Chicago's minority lobbies.

With benefactors like Obama in office, ACORN has milked nearly four decades of government subsidies to prop up chapters that promote the welfare state and undermine the free market, as well as some that have been implicated in perpetuating illegal immigration and voter fraud. Since I last detailed ACORN's illicit activities in this column in June (see "The ACORN Obama knows," June 19, 2008), the group continues to garner scrutiny from law enforcement:

Errr...why don't you read my post#37 there, Casull.  In fact here it is:

Brett,,,that may be carefully what she said from the script. But no doubt the 'imagery' she was trying to create and allow to perpetuate was that she SOLD it on Ebay. It is OK with me and a small point...I give her pass for it given the hyperbole of the event. There is other things that require a closer look most likely, with her new found national emergence and signing on with the RNC and all.

You see the part underlined..?  What does it say..?

Since politicians aren't known for telling the truth all the time, and when they do--only in part, we all were assuming perky Ms. Palin is different. She created an image of what she did/was doing, and she could have followed thru and said a broker finally sold the plane; or just said I/we had the plane sold, without the plug for Ebay.

Both the RNC and DNC conventions have taken on the spectre of more pagentry then convention, both operating in the realm of imagery or imprinting, rather than substantive appeal of ideas....more stagecraft entertainment than statecraft governance. This is because when all the hoopla is over they are just going to do what they want when they get in office. Holding these popliticians to the letter and fire of the Truth is probably not a bad idea for us people, given the crap they get us into.

Likely what her opposition will try to capitalize on next is her involvement with the Alaska Independence Movement which may turn out, or spun, to be anti USA unionhood.

Err, I'm reading into the imagery of your post, tm.  I don't think you fool anybody (I know you don't fool me) when you say "it is OK with me and a small point" and then go on twice now to keep bringing up the fact that she told the truth, but you didn't like the way she told it.  If it were really a small point and ok with you, why keep harping about "the letter and fire of the Truth"?  Sorry, but you aren't near as clever as you think you are.

Casull I guess you see TrueMuslim7's statements as I do. He is a very good propagandist, that mixes in just enough fact in his BS to make it sound true. I cannot believe a person can function in this world when they are so mistrusting and suspicious of everything and everyone. Even if his dream candidate was elected president, in time people like TrueMuslim7 would start thinking that he would be tainted by something and out to get him.  But then again, the old saying goes, (just because your paranoid, doesn't mean no one is out to get you). I can definitely tell TrueMuslim7 has never served in the military as someone with his paranoia would never be able to put his trust in the others that it takes to make good unit integrity.

What we have to accept is that we are not going to get a perfect Utopian candidate. This is the real world and there is no such thing as Utopia. All of our candidates are human and are fallible. What we need to do is find the one who can do the best despite their failings.

"So you ridicule someone who goes out immediately after college to help the poor?!  To me, it sounds like a very Christian thing to do..."

Sounded to me like the very first punches came from the Obama camp...not from Palin.  All is fair game in politics, we all know that.  The way I remember it, the Obama camp and the nation had a while to say whatever they wanted before she got to speak at all.   I would imagine if a team of people were knocking my credentials and experience I'd shoot back as well...not very Christian like I know...I'll ask for forgivness later, maybe.

As far as throwing things around like "that is the Christian thing to do"....a lot of that is politics as well.  Each man and woman knows what is in their own hearts, that's a place where nobody else can really go.  Both parties use religion to win elections...I close my ears to it all.

Interesting election this time though, lots of action, lots of thought...lots of people getting involved.  That's a good thing really.  It's been pretty dead
for a long time.

"So you ridicule someone who goes out immediately after college to help the poor?!  To me, it sounds like a very Christian thing to do..."

Dakota, being you are an avowed liberal Obama voter, who supports murdering babies what do you know of the "Christian thing to do"? It seems the dirty liberals will try to twist anything to make thier filthy candidate look better.

Actually, you have no clue if I am a "liberal" or not.  Where did I ever say that I supported "murdering babies?"  Obviously, you try to read between the lines, even thourgh the lines don't exist.  Since you are voting for McCain, I guess I will assume that you think AUDULTERY is fine and dandy, too?!!  Hmmm...looks like you are a "picker and a chooser" when it comes to what to follow in the Bible. ::)

AHHH UMMM, Lemme see, you are a Avowed Obama supporter, that does make you a supporter of killing babies, and gun control as these are, and I'll type real slow so you can understand it, p  a  r  t     o  f    t  h  e    D  e  m  o  c  r  a  t      p  l  a  t  f  o  r  m! By supporting Barrak Hussien Obama that makes you, Dakotaelkslayer, a supporter of those positions. Being the democrats are a Liberal party, and they are a liberal party, that makes you a LIBERAL.

Now don't try to allay your guilt by saying you are voting for Barrak Hussien Obama for other reasons, you are just as guilty of killing these babies and the Doctors doing the killing directly. Are you feeling guilty Dakota or is it shame? You should, the blood is on your hands. If not, be proud and procaim your liberalism and love of abortion and gun control.

Billy,
You voted for Reagan, right???  So that makes you a Bin Laden fan since Reagan via the CIA supplied Bin Laden with training and arms.  YES, the blood of EVERY AMERICAN who perished on 9/11 IS ON YOUR HANDS!!!!  I hear you were a big Larry Craig fan, too.  Not blood on your hands for that one, something else.... ;D

Aren't you a democrat?  A democrat and a liberal are the same thing.

....no.

83%+ of all married males commit adultery.  That would make it bipartisan I believe.

Extra marital sex isn't an offical party position of the Republican party.

When you have two candidates and one of them is an Adulterer, if you vote for the Adulterer you are pretty much condoning his actions.  That, and you are saying that an oath really means nothing.
