NO

I sent in my SB1 12 gauge to be fitted with a 50cal. muzzleloader barrel in October of 08. After waiting about 8 weeks I called to check on the status. I was told by CS that the blue barrels were on backorder and that it would be a while before they came in. I started calling every month to check on my gun, and was given the same excuse every time. By chance when I called in this month I happened upon a CS rep that actually knew what he was talking about. He explained that Remington was no longer offering the blue barrels and would only supply the SS version. He said that they would install a stainless barrel on my reciever at no extra cost and I recieved my gun two weeks later.

While I am happy that I got my gun back, It was irritating that it took almost 7 months for someone to figure out that the blue barrels were on permanent back order.

Well I checked to see how my H&R was progressing. If you recall, I had to return iy because when they " fixed" the one loose barrel, the 2 other barrels were than loose. I returned them and now they tell me they are wating for me to send in my one barrel. According to UPS, Illion received it on 4/21-09. I called and talked to Ed who reported that they have either not received tha barrel or the info he had was not updated. I am waiting for info as to where my Huntsman barrel is. This is the 2nd time I've had a problem with this " New Company" takeover. I was told that only 1 tenth of one percent had problem with the transition. Luckly, I'm in that group-- twice.

If you read back, you'll see I sent my receiver in December for a new barrel.  After several snafus, I called again recently to find out the status.  The rep on the phone thought something was wrong with the credit card number they had for me.  I gave them a new one and it should be on its way back.  Only 6 months turn around time!
I wonder if they were going to contact me eventually?   ???
I'm happy to say that I did buy a new barrel for my Encore in the mean time.

Now my muzzleloader barrel is missing. Illion reported it getting there, but they have no idea where it is. I was supposed to receive a call from them  and as before - no call. This company is a joke. I'll be luck if I get my firearm back. The company is a nightmare.

It took over 5 months from the time I sent my receiver in to Illion to get fitted with a 357 Mag
barrel. I also ordered a new forend to have as a dedicated one for this barrel and a Monte Carlo
pallet wood stock. Well it finally arrived today without the forend and a straight comb stock.  Angry
To say that I'm disappointed with the way Remington handled this whole deal would be an
understatement. I won't be sending anything in to Remington again. It would have been nice if
Remington didn't ruin a good thing and left H&R alone where they were instead of trying to re
invent the wheel by moving everything to Illion. They had a great system at Gardner with
fantastic friendly customer service and super quick turnarounds. I hope others here have had
better results than I have.

I sent my gun in early April 09.  I ordered 357, 45-70, 20ga. Talked to repair several times since. They were waiting on the 357 barrel. I called June 16 to drop the 45-70 and have two 357 barrels fitted. June 17 repair called and confirmed the change. I said that was right the two 357s would fit my needs better. The rep said that the 45-70 barrel had come in and they wanted to be sure. I said I had been told the 45-70 had been there all along and I was waiting on the 357. he said no, the order had been waiting on the 45-70. Well that shook me after repeatedly hearing I was waiting on the 357. I will wait to vote when my order arrives and I see what I get, "just like a box of choclates".

You should call and ask, Gardner did trigger jobs without barrels, but I dunno if Ilion will.

I am happy with the service from Ilion.  I got greedy and sent an order back in March for a 26" SS Huntsmen barrel, a 30-30 barrel and a 20 ga shotgun barrel.  I received all three yesterday in fine shape.  I got a call about 6 weeks ago and was told they were out of the 26" black powder barrel, but they could substitute a 24", so we went with that.  The lady said that it would be at least 6 weeks, and she was right on.  Here's hoping everyone has similar success. On the afternoon of May 28th, I mailed my shotgun receiver and forearm to H&R for an 20 ga. Ultra.   Today (June 24th), the brown truck pulled up and the guy sprinted up the driveway with a long box under his arm.

3+ weeks for me to mail it to NY, have them fit the barrel, and get back to me.   Now THAT's customer service!!

***303 Days Door To Door*** ridiculous.  At lease a 20 minute wait each time I called before someone would answer the phone.  Lied to at least once.  Although they were nice and tried to be helpful they were clueless.  One of the barrels I ordered with sights did not have them when it arrived.  If I would have known all this before I bought the rifle I would never have purchased it.

Yes, I'm satisfied.  I experienced a number of problems in ordering a barrel, but in the end Remington made good on the deal.  I did go into the arrangement aware that Remington was going through changes and that lengthy waits were possible if a particular caliber barrel was not in stock.  See my post on 44 mag barrel for details.

Yes. Ilion received my Handi on June 9. I received it back on July 10. I sent it in for bad grouping. They replaced the barrel and gave me a free trigger job. I phoned them first so they sent me a shipping label so there was no cost to me. It's still not a shooter but it is better.

Five months for a .308 barrel.  Didn't get the 20 ga also ordered, no explanation or anything about that, guess I'll just buy a 20 ga.  After two months, called CS every two weeks.  Had to ask what barrels were in stock, as I was getting tired of waiting and it appeared standard .308 barrels were going to be out of stock for some time.  Turns out they had .308 ultra barrels IN STOCK!  $12 more, and none of the "customer service" reps thought to mention that until I finally got tired of waiting?  Also, the on-line status thing is completely useless if they never update it - I just put in my repair number and it still has the March 20 status of being in for repair. Got the rifle back yesterday.  And oh, year, was assured many times I'd be emailed when it was shipped back to me - never got a one, even when I was assured, last Friday, that the guy was, as we were speaking, forwarding me the shipping tracking number so I could track it myself.  I will likely not be sending away for any more "accessory" barrels.

I sent my frame in to be fitted with the 22-250 bull fluted barrel.  I called before sending it in, and CS indicated that the barrel was in stock.  They received the frame Monday morning (July 13).  We will see how things go before I vote.

Hello, I am new to the site, I found it after purchasing my first Handi Rifle last year.  On June 22 I sent in my receiver and forearm stock along with my 7mm-08 barrel order .  A few days later I called to confirm it had been received. Was told it had, was given a repair order and directions to track. I checked the status every few days and was pleased to see it was updated.  I received my new barrel on July 15th.  I would have had it a few days earlier however no one was home to sign for the package.  As a side note the person I spoke with initially was very professional and informative.  I hope the gun shoots as good as the service I have received to date and as good as my original Handi in 45-70.

It seems Ilion can do a fair job if there are no glitches along the way. Once there is any type of glitch- PROBLEMS-PROBLEMS-PROBLEMS. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. :'(

About a month ago, I sent off a shotgun for a new barrel and it took 3.5 weeks, door to door.

THEN . . .

On July 9th, I sent off another receiver for a 22-250 barrel.   Today, the woman (yup, woman.  We are making great strides in today's world) in the brown truck delivered the completed rifle from H&R.  Again, it was about 3.5 weeks.    I'm satisfied . . .

In addition, as they were shipping, they sent out an email telling me that they were sending it and they supplied the shipping information - the UPS tracking number.   I was able to anticipate its arrival and made sure that I met the UPS woman in order to sign for it.  (I had it delivered to my office.)  It's out in the truck right now.

Nice work, guys.   Thanks.

Well, I received my rifle today (September 25, 2009) with the new 22-250 barrel.  Everything looks really good.  Total time was about 9 weeks due to the new barrel not being in stock.  Otherwise, I would have had the rifle back in about 3 weeks.

Overall, I am satisfied with the service.  I called CS about every 2 weeks to get an update, and everyone was very helpful.  I think their main problem is with the availability of barrels.  If they could solve that problem, they could return guns within 2 - 4 weeks.

Bought my first NEF back in July for my son's 9th birthday.  Purchased a youth model .243.  Sent the gun off to the factory on July 13th to have a youth 20 guage barrel made, a full size screw in choke tube barrel made and purchase an adult stock.  Thought was a gun that would grow with him.  Virginia had their first every Youth Deer hunt with gun today.  The plan was to have the gun back in time for my son to practice with the .243 before today.  Didn't get the gun back until Thursday of this week.  I followed all the advise offered on this forum.  Called before shipment to ensure the barrels I wanted were in stock as well as the stock.  Called after shipment to ensure arrival, which I had confirmation of via UPS.  Called once a week to check on the status.  I have never dealt with a company whose employess, one after another, simply lied.  Yes, those are harsh words, but based on my experience, that is what occurred.  One week I'd get one answer and the next week another employee would tell me that there was no way the previous employee could of told me what they did. With the exception of a couple of calls near the end that I placed on my cell phone, all the calls were recorded simply because they were made from my work phone which is always recorded.  I kept my patience all the way until Monday of this week, when I asked to speak to a supervisor for the very first time.  I left two messages for the same supervisor and never got a return call.  One of my barrels arrived Thursday as well as the adult stock.  The other barrel arrived Friday, but I wasn't home to receive and will get on Monday.  The youth barrel and adult stock are great.  Hope the full size barrel is to.  I have no complaints about the quality of the product, just the grossly unacceptable level of service.  The web repair order information was highly inaccurate and not updated.  As my boss always says, people make a business.  Clearly, their Customer Service department needs people who care about their work and are held accountable to new standards.   When I can find the time, I will be writing a letter to the company sharing my experience and copying the letter to their local Better Business Bureau.  For the record, I work in Customer Service for a natural gas utility where our job is to deal with customer's issues everyday.  Ever called your local utility to thank them for a utility bill?  I think I have a decent understanding of what an acceptable level of service should be.

Mostly Yes, The turn around time was exactly one month for a replacemant barrel and trigger job. The H&R shot terrible. They put on a new barrel and improved it but it still shot bad. The test target showed a 1.8" target but I don't believe it was shot with that gun. Even from a vise it wouldn't shoot a 1.8 at 50 yds. I tested 8 factory loads and hundreds of different reloads. I have Rem's , savage and marlins that shoot sub minute and are fun to shoot. My H&R was not fun to shoot. It belongs to someone else now.

Sept. 30,   Sent an SB2 .44mag in for repairs and 3 accessory barrels: 30-30, 20ga ush light, and 45LC 20" carbine. Kept checking on line and the reply was that the repair man was working on it. Called in May and was told that they were waiting on the 45 carbine barrel. Was told the same in August. Called a few days ago and was again told that they were waiting on the 45.I asked when they thought the 45 carbine barrel would become available and was put on hold. A few minutes later when the Customer Service guy came back he said that they would not be producing any more at the present time.  I'm waiting now for the rifle and 2 extra barrels to be sent.

Update: Oct 7, Still waiting, no word yet

Update: Oct 12, From website     "2/19/2009   Repairman is in the process of servicing the firearm/part."

Update: Nov 17, Nine months now still waiting.......
