KP 1 Explosions

Just got off the phone with someone who was asked to order me a new KP 1. He stated that his suppler wouldn't order it because of reports of the KP 1 exploding? I told him I knew of no such mishaps. Anyone out there heard of anything like this.

My 45-70 KP-1 has not exploded yet, but then I have not shot it that much.   I will be sure to post here if something happens.

I will actually be with the national sales manager for Knight next week. I will ask him bout this and report back.

Mine is muzzleloader only thus far.  I've heard of no such reports, seen no such reports, have searched the internet and found no such reports.  I am highly doubtful there are any such reports.

I agree with UC, have searched, but have found nothing.


On the other hand, the KP1 has an explosion every time you pull the trigger on a live charge, albiet a controlled explosion, they are designed to do that.

I am like everyone else I know of no such happenings. The dealer just may have wanted to push his TC's he has on the shelf. I have already ordered the KP 1 Whitetail combo. in 30-06. anyone got any suggestions on ammo. I have been shooting W-W 150 gr. PSP Super X in my 7400 Rem. But most of my shots are under 70 yards. Moving to more open country possiblity of a 200-300 yard shot.

I haven't heard of this and wouldn't hesitate to buy a Knight. Stainless rusts just like any other steel so I wouldn't worry about that. It might just been solvent or something left on the gun.

I have owned several stainless guns. even had a ruger handgun rode around in my truck for several months. This is the first for me. I rarely use solvent unless it is necessary. I didnt use any on this gun. Talked to Knight service today, freindly folks. Said they would take care of it. Right after deer season of course.

OT, but I thought this was interesting.  Knight has apparently changed the laminated stocks.  Newer pics at Knight show the top rifle, older on the bottom.

I spent a few days fishing with the Knight rep this week and he said that this is the first that he has heard of any of this. He said that he had heard of no explosions.

I plead the 5th. Actually we were tuna fishing and tuna fishing so we had a long time to talk on the way in and out. I had some problems with my KP1 in the begining but I am very satisfied now. Just about every company experiences growing pains and I think that my very early serial number KP1 was an example of that. I sent the rifle back and they sent it back to me very quickly. When I recieved it back, the problems were all fixed and the rifle shoots pretty good. I am very satisfied with my KP1 over all.
