#1-Varmint

I just recently put on layaway a Ruger #1 V in .223. I really look forward to spending some time at the range with this new rifle. Have any of you had any experience with this rifle/Caliber combination? The only thing I noticed is that the trigger has noticeable creep to it. I put a Keplinger in my #1b 7mag and will probably do the same with this one. ;D

I have several No.1V's. I have found that mine in 223 loves Calhoun 55gr BDHP bullets. It is my only No.1V that does not have a long throat.
I have Canjar set triggers on mine and like them but have never shot a Kepplinger

I have 4 #1's currently, one of which is a V model.  Chambered in .22-250 though.  It is a verrry accuarte rifle though.  Ypou didn't mention it's vintage but if it's an older one, the trigger is somewhat adjustable. Best of luck with yours!

This rifle is brand new. The guys at Jay's Sporting Goods here in MI said that the #1 V in .223 as of this year is no longer in production. So I asked them if they can find me a new one, and a week later I got a call. I really lucked out. I am impressed with the wood Ruger uses for these rifles. This one has remarkable character as does the wood on my #1-H .416 Rem. The wood on my #1-B is not as nice, however it is nice enough. Like I had mentioned before the trigger has more creep than what I like. I have a Kepplinger in my #1-B and I will probably do the same with this one.

You said you had 4 #1's What other model/Caliber combinations do you have and which one is your favorite? My goal is to have a collection of #1's. Next on the list is a light sporter in .243 for my very soon to be wife. Then the Medium sporter in 45/70 and finally the RSI in 7x57. Then the next daunting task is to top them with some nice glass. All in time I guess.

My favorite No.1V is my 6mmPPC. It is a caliber that you don't see everyday in the field. I have a M77VT in the same caliber and also in 22PPC. Now I need a No.1V in 22PPC

How old is that #1 in 6mmPPC? Did you purchase it as that or did you have it re-chambered? Sounds like two very accurate rifles. Do you have a Canjar Trigger in that one as well? In any regard it sounds like you have a very nice collection  as well.

My 6mmPPC is factory..  BUT
it was abused and I sent it back to the factory and they put new wood on it and refinished it.
