G2 hammer system on Encore???
« on: August 01, 2003, 12:18:49 PM »
I have not had my hands on a new G2, but I've been looking at the pictures. For those who have actually held one, what do you think the chances are of adapting an Encore to use the same (or same type) hammer and breech block as the G2. I'm getting a little tire of changing out firing pin assemblies, and have even missed a couple of chances to shoot to my heart's content 'cause I didn't have the right firing pin adapter with me. I did come up with the brilliant idea of keeping the one that's not in the gun in the range box, but in the vein of just never being satisfied, what do ya'll think the possibilities might be? If this is not feasible, just write it off to me being a newbie as this is my first post. On the other hand, if this is a brilliant idea, I don't want any credit - just want one for my gun. So, let's hear some imput.
Thank-you,
John :D

I am assuming you mean you have a rimfire barrel and the adapter from whomever you bought the barrel from. I do not know about retrofitting the G2 assembly but probably the best option I have seen for shooting the rimfires in an Encore is the OTT barrels. They make rimfire barrels that do not require any adapters. The link to their site is: http://www.mbmco.net/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=OTT

If it really is a hassle for you sell your current barrel and adapter and buy one of OTT's barrels. Sean

Sean,
Thanks for the reply. I've explored that route, and may end up taking it, but it would be 8-12 weeks. I'm too impatient. I already waited that long or longer for my D. VanHorn barrel which shoots extremely well. Last week a fly made the mistake of landing on my target at 30 yards and got swatted with one shot, so I'm pretty happy with my barrel. Anybody know if the firing pin adapter/block is the same size on the Encore and G2?
John

buckenbass,
Thanks for checking this out for me. I don't have the milling machine or lathe in my shop that it would take to produce these. I hope somebody will run with the idea, though. I hope they make a pocketful of money in the process :-D . If they want to make 'em, I'd be glad to accept the first one as a show of appreciation for my idea  . Heck, I would even be glad to pay for one so I could keep using the barrel I have now :( . Hope somebody with the right equipment is reading all of this!!! :D
