September 8, Good morning Montana
« on: September 08, 2008, 03:44:57 AM »
Wow! It's beautiful out this morning,  Clear blue sky! It cool must be in the mid 30's.  There is a nip in the air and I am thinking about deer hunting.

Becauses of getting settled in and not really being ready for it, plus some other issues we will be just meat hunting this year. One of the the things we discovered when getting ot stuff out of storage, we sold our freezer and will have to buy another.

I will take the wife out and let her shoot a fat doe or young buck. We'll bring that in and hang it, then cut it up and get in the freezer.  Then a couple of days later I'll go out and do the same thng.   We both could picke up a B tags, but probably won't this year...

Normally I take the wife out and get hers and then spend the rest of the season going out looking for horns...but having to drive 30 miles to where I like to hunt every morning can run the gas bill up pretty quick.  Ran it up pretty good getting moved. 2000 miles in a Uhaul truck  when gas was $3.50 a gallon,  The another 600 mile on $4 gas...well you get the idea Hunting will be curtailed this year.

Next year, I think I will drag the travel trailer up North and spend time in it

Wow the difference 2500 miles or so makes. Officially it was about 68 for an over night low but on my front porch this morning it felt a bit less. Still I was quite comfortable in shorts and t-shirt as I sat out an hour or so watching the critters before deciding it was time to begin pruning the blueberry orchard. That's a job that will take a bunch of work sessions to complete.
