Got the scope in today! Buschnell trophy.
First off, I had taken to scope mount off for my RB, didn't remember what inlbs taurus had wrote to mount in on, so I called them. I asked, I have a technical question about a scope mount. The lady transfered me to customer service. I asked, the guy says, well that is a fairly technical question. Oh really? Would I call you to ask something like, what ammo does my .454 casull take? Or, which direction do I put the bullets in? Or, how many popsicles could I make explode in a row with a 360grn WFNGC at 1300fps?
I told him, you work for taurus right? "yes" so.... how about you transfer me to somebody who knows what they are talking about.. "hold on a second" same guy comes back a 30 seconds later. "Do you have some sort of thread locker?" yes, but that isn't why I called, I need your recommended torque. "Well I don't have that information, but, I want you to mount the screws in a cross patter..." I know how to mount a scope mount, I need the torque..., you know what, nevermind. Click.
So I went with your regular every day 16 inlbs. Called warne. Here was my phone call. "Can I help you" Yeah, what is the recommended torque for your fixed rings? "Tactical or regular?" Regular. "25 inlbs." Thank you very much. Click.
Now why can't everything work that well. Anyways, enough about that.
Here it is. The raging bull .454 with a buschnell trophy. Got it all set up, sighted in, threw about 75 rounds down it. Started small, some .45colt over 7grns of unique. 300 grainers over 12 grains of unique.... Got balsy 330 grainers over 24grains of H110. Feeling like a man... 395 grainers over 21grains of IMR4227.
Scope held. I gave it a good beating. It took it like a champ. My groups are still about 4" at 40 yards elbows resting on the truck, but hell, this is the first time I've ever put a scope on a handgun. And I like it.
