New rifle has arrived
« on: September 08, 2008, 07:39:52 PM »
Did a little trading on the forum and got a CVA Optima .50cal. After some cleaning and polishing with Flitz i went out to see how she would do. Did excellent with 90gr Pyrodex P and a 275gr Parker Hydracon.

Later on i went and finally pulled the scope off my omega and mounted the Bushnell Trophy onto the Optima and will zero it in in the AM!

Excellent rifle, i wish i had bought one when they first came out.

Trigger is around 3lbs with no creep and no grit.

I do believe i am now a fan of the break action muzzy  :D

Rifle with scope weighs in at 9lbs 10.5oz

Hammer extension,

Hope you didn't give too much for that gun Bigblock.  There appears to be some kind of fungus growing all over the wooden stock, and the blueing is completely worn away.  :D

I only have one in-line, a Lyman Mustang, and I too really like a break open action.

:o 26 shots with it today.

My first 12 shots i was getting might mad at the scope!  It was shooting over a foot to the left and i was out of adjustment. My bro took a look and commented the scope looked cocked.  Sure enough it was! Took it inside and adjust the mount screws and centered it up, backed the scope 2 complete turns to the left, fired 1 shot at 15 yards and dead center!

After that we were tinkering around at 25 and its now 2" high at 50 yards.

26 shots total today with everything from 300gr barnes expanders, 250gr XTP, 300gr XTP's. All were shot with 90gr Pyrodex P.

ZERO SWABBING!  This sucker is a keeper!

Not once did i feel any crud build up while pushing a fresh sabot down the bore.  It also looks like i dont have to screw around with buying assortments of sabots either.
