compound bow limb repair

I'm new to archery and just picked up a used bow. I noticed it had a small scratch on the limb right next to the cam. A couple small fibers have slightly seperated, there about 3/8" long. What's the best way to repair this? or should i just ignore it.

If I was you, I'd have someone at a bowshop check it out before shooting it.

Loose pieces would tell me that the integrity of your bow is questionable. I wouldn't want to be at full draw and have it decide to let loose suddenly.  Slivers of stuff flying every which way and/or the strings and cables getting all wrapped up on ya might not be real comfortable.

I dont really have a shop anywhere nearby. From the little research i've done i thought it would be possible to remove the splinters with a razor or file. Then use some epoxy on it.

Without seeing it no one can tell you if  your plan is wise or unwise in the extreme. I will have to agree tho with huntswithdogs you DO NOT want that thing coming apart on you at full draw perhaps blinding you in the process. I'd find a reputable bow shop and have them take a look and decide if the damage is such that a replacement limb is required. Damaged limbs on bows are serious business.

You might want to make a call or shoot an email to the manufacturer. It is likely they will tell you the limb needs to be replaced. If you are real lucky you may even be able to get them to pick up at least part of the cost.

I'm with huntswithdogs and Graybeard, I wouldn't trust this until I could get someone to look at it, and then I wouldn't feel good about it until it was repaired. I've seen way to many compounds break, and I wouldn't want that experience, and trust me you don't either----Back years ago(1989, 1990-1991) when Pse made its "Thunder Flight" and "Fire Flight" and "Mach Flight 4" series of bows, they had a lot of problems with risers breaking in the middle. This happened because shooters were able to crank the poundage beyond what the bow specs. were. At the time, I was a regular in weekly 3d shoots at my local sportsmans club. I personally saw several bows break and believe me, it wasn't a fun experience to watch, much less have it happen to you. I sure was glad I had a Darton in those days ;D ;D.

If I were you, I would have it repaired by a professional immediately and not even pull it back.
