getting stationed in texas

Hello all

I am about to finish my gunnersmate a school in yorktown,va and am getting stationed in freeport,tx. my question is, is there any good hunting around that area especially hog hunting which i would love to give a try.

Welcome to Texas, and thank you for your service to the country.

There is little public land in Texas , but there is some. Now I am not exactly sure where Freeport is but I think its between Houston and Rockport down there along the coast. There is a wildlife perserve down there that allows hunting by permit only and I believe that memebers of the armed services get put to the top of the list or something. I would suggest that you go on line and look for National Forest, Wildlife areas and such. I think but am not sure that its Aranasa Wild Life Persevre or something like that.
