Some of you guys show pics of some gorgeous contenders sporting custom grips and forearms. Where do you get them?

Check over at the specialty pistols site. There are numerous places to get them. Georgia Jim, TC Dave, Strtton Custom, and numerous others. Do a search on that site and enjoy the reading.

I get my custom wood sets from Bullberry Barrel Works.   Excellent prices, beautiful woods, very well made and sized to fit my hands/body like a glove.

A couple of sets made for me from Fred's private wood stash...

With all due respect, You S**K, twice. :-\
Once because one of the forearms I need to buy is for the 218 Bee barrel I bought from you.
And SECOND, those guns are knock down gorges. ;)
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mike, I guess.   No doubt being a close friend is what netted me some of his rarest exhibition grade woods that he had put aside for his own personal firearms.   But all of his wood is very nice and low priced considering the grade.   Even the utility grade is far from being Plain Jane.

Something you might consider for that 218Bee barrel is to go full length like I did for the 12" 22LRM barrel.   Looks and works great with octagon barrels too with Fred's hanger system.

High Plains sells grip set on ebay and they are very nice and a perfect fit with several color combos to choose from. I ordered a set for my G2 and love them. you dont have to bid as he has a buy it now price and makes them as the orders come in however he says 2 weeks to process but it took him 4 so he is a little slow. I also have a set of Georga Jim and they too are very nice.

Man Larry how do you dare take those Contenders out to shoot them? I be afraid I put a ding in them. They are indeed works of art.

I bought a set of High Plains and was not happy with the fit of the grip. They cut the frame channel too wide, had to shim the grip with tape to get it to fit properly. Will not order another set.

I've bought 8 sets of Georgia Jim's offering and pleased with the quality and fit of his products.

I've also bought a set from John of Otter Custom Stocks who did a set for my 45Colt G2 that just knocks your socks off when seen in person

As I previously posted I did purchase a set from High Plains which are beautiful but the fit was poor and I will not purchase another set

Easy answer Larry... I learned by growing up on a working ranch that guns are just tools to be used and not hidden away.   I've been lucky to acquire many firearms with very high to exhibition grade wood on them over the years... paid the extra toll just because I love fine wood and as a pride of ownership thing I guess (ego).   But none of them hide in the safe.    Both the TC 22LRM and 17HMR pictured above have each shot literally 10,000's of thousands of rounds hunting or target shooting while wearing these woods, and so far neither has the slightest ding on them from use.   Since most of my hunting for the last couple of decades since I stopped hunting BG has been the predator and varmint hunting I have done for over 50 years, it's not too hard to take care of them in the field and not bang them up, especially from portable bench shooting in the varmint fields.   Yes 1 or 2 do a have a small boo-boo maybe, but  hardly noticeable ones.   Doesn't really matter to me though, they are just a reminder of the hunts where they were "the scares of battle".   LOL

Enjoy and use them while you can pard - you can't take them with you.
