Stripped Screw in Scope Mount, Help!
« on: September 13, 2008, 03:27:50 PM »
My Dad just stripped the allen screw in a scope mount.  He was trying to take the scope off of a rifle he just bought.  My guess is that it had loc-tite on it and he didn't heat it up.  What has worked for you guys in getting these screws out?  Is it hopeless and you have to drill it out and ruin the ring?

Thanks,

Bob

An easy-out may work, or a torx driven into the socket, but heat is still the key for removal. Here's a thread from the H&R FAQs on the subject.
