Lee Precsion Lead Hardness Tester

Has anyone tried the new Lee Lead Hardness tester? They sell for a fraction of the Saeco tester. Just wondered how they work. Saw 'em on sale at MidSouth for about $35.00. RR

Does anyone here even use a a lead hardness tester to check the hardness and therefore the consistency of there cast bullets? I demand the utmost in accuracy of my cast bullets and found this can only be done by having cast bullets as consistent as possible-equal hardness. RR

I use the Saeco hardness tester. I have seen the Lee advertised and if I remember correctly you use this in a single stage press. Cabine Tree makes their own tester and from what I hear it is a good one. Price falls between the Saeco and the Lee. There are 2 versions. www.castingstuff.com

i've been wondering about the Lee myself, but I can't seem to find anyone that has them in stock. I even called Lee. They said that production was on hold. That was about 2 months ago. I don't know if they're out there yet or not

Go with the Cabin Tree tester

I just purchased one of the Cabin Tree testers. It is built incredibly strong, is easy to use, fast, and is very consistent. I got the version that allows you to test other things like case concentricity. They ship fast too. Turbo
If it isn't fun, it probably isn't worth doing.

I think I will be buying a cabintree, but I was thinking about the Lee to leave at my camp.  I keep some casting stuff there. (Usually just for making ingots) for those really bad weather days, when I cant get the fishin' boat in the water. I don't want to spent too much money to duplicate the equipment that I already have at home.

I too use Cabintree tester and works really great.  I highly recommend it.

I purchased it over the Saeco since I could check large sized samples.
