.357 load data

  My 9 yr old son is going on his first deer hunt this year. I have several NEF rifles, and he is going to use my .357 mag survivor. He has been praticing and can shoot a 3.5" group at 100yrds using a scope and cheap 158 grain factory ammo. I think thats good enough for a 9 year old.
  I want to load some better,heavier ammo,and some accurate ,cheap pratice .38 rounds.  I have searched, but I have found TOO much info.
 I have not reloaded ammo in several years, but I still have a good press,and everything I need except dies and components.
  I could realy use some deer,and cheap plinking ammo load info.

I’ve had good accuracy out of the 357 barrel on my Buffalo Carbine using factory Federal/Eagle 158gr JSPs.  In all honesty I doubt you’ll find a better load for deer even in the premium ammo lines.  As for reloads I’ve been shooting a lot of the 180gr Speer JFPs with H110 listed in the Speer #10 Reloading Manual, RCBS can provide you the correct seating stem if you choose to try this load.  At the indoor range I shoot 158gr cast bullets and Unique with no signs of leading, see the Lyman #47 Manual.  These reloads all use once fired Remington brass 357 cases from the Rem 125gr JHP bulk ammo at WalMart.
