Well, the cowboys won last night and the Red Raiders and the Longhorns seem to be doing OK. I'm happy.

I don't watch games that use a ball nor open threads that discuss such. Had I had a hint that's what this one was I'd not have opened it. I won't again. I have no time to waste on such foolishiness as ball games.

Maybe I should set up a forum called Ball Games and other useless sports trivia and require all discussions of ball games there so I don't waste my time opening threads about such.  ::)

Couldn't have said it better myself.  I prefer the solitude of the forest.  I was never any good at sports that didn't require pulling a trigger, or casting a line.

As far as I'm concerned sports and politics are in the same league. They get paid huge amounts of money whether or not they do anything and then they whine about everything. They all think they are the greatest thing to ever hit this earth but never do anything to prove it. Instead of doing something that benifits the country they line their own pockets and sling mud at their opponets.

Sorry Rex, I agree with GB and Swampman.  I wouldn't walk across the street for the Super Bowl.  In fact, most Superbowl Sundays I'm hunting or ice fishing.  I'd rather be on a lake or woods than in a crowd.  People ask me "What do you think of Detroit or Green Bay."  Don't know anything about them.  IMHO professional athletes and film people are way overpaid and we, as a nation, should have more constructive, and beneficial ways to spend our money.  We waste billions of dollars on entertainment.  As a nice lady pointed out on this formum, almost everyone who had their mortgage forclosed stilll had their t.v. and computers working.  There is something wrong with our values when we spend that kind of money on sports and movies rather than things like health care, research, and assisted living.  Or simply paying our bills.

Some how some people decided this was some kind of take sides issue.
I am very happy that all of you posted what you did. I was not trying to
trick anyone into liking ball games, (i only watch the COWBOYS) just trying to get some thing going other than gas prices or financial worries. I especially
like GB post, maybe i did trick him. ::)

Yeah ya did. Of course my remarks were mostly tongue in cheek type but my dislike of all sports stuff is quite real. It does irk me a bit to open a thread I thought might be a serious one only to find it was about some sort of ball game. I never intentionally open one if I know ahead of time it's about such.

As far as I'm concerned about the pros and cons of ball games it's whatever flips your switch. If you like them, watch them. If you don't don't. Personally I'm getting kind of old. As a matter of fact I got a year older today. I get tired and have to set down and catch my breath occassionally. Watching a ball game is more interesting than looking at the wall. I'd love to get out in the forest but it's almost 200 miles to one. As far as hunting, the ranchers get mad if you shoot their cows and thats about all that's here. It's the low part of the cycle for rabbits and nearly all the prairie dogs have fallen to the plague. Gotta do something to kill time.

Yup reckon so fer some. Me I'd rather watch paint dry than a ball game. As you say it's whatever flips a fellow's switch.

I tend to be with GB, Swampy, Pete & the like. For a time, back in the 70s I did start to watch football..then one day I realized how
much time I was wasting each weekend sitting before the boob-tube..and I suddenly became disillusioned with the whole thing.

          As far a " Sports fans not able to post threads ?" ..there are plenty of places on GBs where sports fans can post threads;
just as long as it's outdoor sports; hunting, trapping, camping, shooting...etc LOL

I can though, understand any one's enjoyment of a sport if their child or family member is in same sport.

I only like college football.  I live in Auburn, Alabama where Auburn University is located.  It becomes a "social" event on home football weekends with cookouts, people get together to either go to the game or watch on TV at someones house.  Sunday school classes get together to watch a game with socializing, cookouts, etc.  No alcohol is allowed in the stadium (which holds 87,000) so most drinking is done outside before or after a game.  Drunks are escorted out with security.  People show up at games with little kids and babies.  I am 2 miles from the campus.  They usually have a decent baseball team and a very good swim team as well.  I prefer to hunt, but most of the games are played before hunting season begins in mid-November.  Bowl games, especially if they are played in Florida, are winter vacation trips.  It is shirtsleave weather in Florida around the first of January.

I played football every year I was in school. I enjoying watching college football much more than pro football, but I do watch any football over anyother television show. I can see how some folks wouldn't like football. There are people that don't like guns, so I guess not liking football isn't so far fetched. I don't really care about baseball or basketball or really any sport other than football. I do like for kids to play team sports. I think it goes towards teaching many good things. It certainly taught me that I could exceed my mental limits.

I wouldn't choose watching football over being in the woods, that is unless Alabama and Auburn are playing.

Haven't watched a baseball game since those spoiled rich brats killed the world series years ago. Football is about as exciting as an underwater chess match. I enjoy a good college basketball game, KY Wildcats of course. I REALLY enjoy a good boxing match. Golf is about as silly as it gets. POWDERMAN.  :D :D
