Author Topic: CZ 527 7.62X39 as a carry rifle? (Read 7987 times)

What a great looking rifle, and in a caliber that's accurate and easy to shoot. Big question for me is the clip that hangs down - is that in the way when walking with the rifle? Is the balance point right at the clip, or is it back of it? I'm about ready to make a move on the rifle, but have second thoughts about the clip getting in the way while still-hunting. Maybe I'm making a bigger deal out of it than it really is - I've other rifles with clips that fit flush(BLR, BAR), but wonder if any of you've an opinion from experience with the rifle.

If your still hunting the rifle will be in both hands and the ballance point at, infront or behind the magazine should not matter.

I have the rifle and love it. Best brush gun and tree stand gun.Accurate as all get out with factory and very acc. with hand loads shot 308. and 311. out of it and did real good. Just get the dies with 311 and 308 resizing.

The one I used to have (yeah, I was stupid) would outshoot my Rem. 700 LTR .308 at 100 yds, and that was with the cheap (at the time) Wolf hollowpoint ammo. I'm planning on getting another one, I think that as a hiking, scouting, bumming around, plinking rifle it's the best you can do. The mag never bothered me in the least.

I bought one for my 12 year old daughter to hunt with, she loves it, I love it! it's a great shooting little rifle, she can bust clay pigions on the 200yrd burm kneeling pretty consistantly, ammo's cheap enough for plinking, without bothering to reload if you don't have time. I'd say it balances at the mag/trigger gaurd. And I don't mind the mag shooting offhand or in field positions. I'm hoping they'll make it in 6.8 Rem some day.

It's an easy rebarrel and a little extractor work to get a 6.8.

The guy who originally designed the round put up his first "test" model on a 527.

It feeds prefectly from the 7.62x39 mag.

That's right, I remember reading about it being used on a mullie hunt when the round was first being tested. I should make the leap, and have thought about it before, but I'll hold out for another year and see if the factory makes it happen first.

I just one today and started shooting. The Wolf 124 HPs shoot fairly good at a little over 1 inch. I mounted a Leupold Veri-X 3.5x10x40 and I think it's going to be a winner.

One thing. I took it apart to adjust the trigger which was no problem. The problem is getting that damn thing back together. I found a "method" to assembly. Put the trigger gaurd on first and hold stock from the bottom. Make sure the guard is flush with the bottom of the stock. Place the action in a wiggle to get the proper alignment with the upper gard. Took me almost an hour to get it back together correctly.

I just love mine, the mag dose make it a little odd to carry but I don't find it to be a problem.

The little rifle shoots so well and is all the power you'll ever need here in the woods of eastern Kentucky I'am very happy with it.

I saw a 527 at the gun store the other day in .223 it had the shorter mag on it from the factory, First I've seen and I know nothing about it but what I saw.

By the way. CZ now has a flush 3 round mag for the 527's Not sure if they have one for the 7.62X39 yet but if enough people e-mail them asking for one I'm sure they will make it.

I e-mailed them the other day about an M1 and would it take the standard 5 rd mag and they do so I would assume that the three round mags will fit any 527.

I had the 527 American in .223 which has a slightly longer barrel, but I carried it quite a bit while snowshoeing in rough country, and found that it carried very well. Hooking a finger over the magazine is natural, and very comfortable. I did sell the gun, but want one in .222, and 7.62x39. Has anyone tried the short flatnose 110 grain jacketed, or bullets like the Lyman 31008/3116 out of theirs? I was wondering about feeding issues.

Hunting season draw near and my crbine is ready sighted in at about 1/5" high at 50 yards should be about 0 at 100 and maybe 6" low at 200. I put a fixed 4x scope on it and I hope she's deer accurate in about two weeks, I love the way this little rifle handles I think it'll be great in the white tail woods.

I've got one and love it. The downsides are the magazine which makes it a little clumsy to carry, and the safety which works in the opposite direction than most everything else. It is even accurate with the Wolf fmj's and HP's. The Wolf 123 SP shoots well, but the 154's open up a bit, but have adequate hunting accuracy for 100 yds.

I'll probably do the magazine cutdown or buy a 3-shot one.

the 3x9 let me see and aim at deer at 400 yards and I tryed to make the shot

missed
changed to a 2 x that way I can't see that far

If I read this correctly, you shot at a deer with a 7.62 x 39 carbine? What is the trajectory of the round? I'm a fairly good shot, and I would think twice about shooting at a deer at that distance with a .30-06!

A 1.5 to 4.5 Tasco scope sits on my 7.62 x 39 CZ carbine which is normally set at 1.5 x. I wouldn't shoot past 150 yd. unless I was starving to death!

You couldn't see a deer a 400 where I hunt, 150 is about it in stuff I hunt, and thats only in the dead of winter.

Mine is wearing a Simmions 4X, simple and light. I wanted to use a compact scope but they wouldn't clear the bolt.

That is why I changed the scope
before you say anything I know it was to far way to far ,it will not happen again.
