Changing A Bolt Handle - UPDATED 10/21
« on: September 18, 2008, 08:34:02 AM »
Off with the old, on with the new - I thought someone might be interested in an intermediate pic of a Mauser 98 bolt, after the turn-down bolt handle was hacked off, and a new Remington 700 bolt handle welded in it's place.

A little grinding/filing/stoning/polishing of the welds, and an overall polishing, and it should be ready to set in the action to start relieving a channel in the stock for part of the stem.

I finally finished the bolt handle conversion, after a few weeks delay (bum foot) - and will post a pic as soon as my son returns from his Canadian Moose hunt with the digi camera (and a Moose, I hope).

I finished changing the bolt handle on my .30-06 Mauser from the issue bent bolt to a Remington 700 handle, I ordered as a spare part from Remington.

Sorry for the poor pic quality, and the long time it took (bum foot + no camera)

Here's a few pics of the completed bolt handle job.
