Barrel regulation and Baikal izh 94
« on: September 19, 2008, 05:37:27 PM »
Howdy.
Just got back from the range with the baikal.  The rifle shoots exceptionally accurate (6.5X55).  1" low at 25, exactly on target at 50 and 200 yards, and about 3 1/4 inches high at 100.  The shotgun shot with slugs exactly in the centre for windage, 1" low at 25, 3 inches low at 50, and about 13" low at 100.  I know there is a regulating screw on the thing.  Does anyone here know how it works, or have access to instructions on how to use it?  Would be nice to pull it up a little more at 100 yds.

Thanks
YKD

The elevation can be adjusted but requires a part which can be purchased from EAA in FL.  What slugs are you using and what are the bullet weights that you are using?

Really cheap wally world slugs (winchester), and really hot 124 grain federal cartridges.  Even if I dumbed down the cartridges and heated up the slugs there would be considerable difference in point of impact.

Will contact Baikal in Canada here to try and get a different sized regulation screw.  Would like to use the shottie as backup for bear....... especially considering the lightness of the cartridge for that kind of game.  I haven't patterned the shotgun barrel yet.  Will see soon.  Have two other baikals in rimfire that are excellent.  My savages are all pretty rough.  If I can pull up that slug (using better quality slugs, and a new screw) I would consider getting rid of all my other centerfires..........

I guess perfection is always a goal, but that seems pretty good regulation to me.

for Bear you should look a the Brenneke 3 inch Black Magic, they run very hot. I shoot them with the 9.3x74r for large hogs
