Let me try to recall .

The first was in 2000 a 5-point buck.
The second 2001 a spike on opening morning and a spike on wednesday morning with a 44-magnum
The third was a spike buck in 2002 with a 454-casull
The fourth was a doe with a 454 in 2003.
The fifth was a doe with a 454 if I remember right if I recall it was in 2004.
No deer with a handgun in 2005 or 2006 or 2007 New jobs and in had no time to hunt in 2007 however I did take 2 deer in 2005 a buck and a doe with a rifle. I also took a doe in 2007 with a rifle .
This year I plan on taking several as we have a two antlered deer limit and four anterless deer limit all with a 454 hopefully.

Hunting up here in NH, things are bit slower when it comes to getting deer!  I hunt alone, and also work a lot. I usually get 4-5 days of hunting in per season.  I've been hunting with a handgun starting in 2003.  Have gotten two so far with my Ruger SRH in .480 with a 2X scope.

2004 - 11 point buck, 205#, Hornady XTP factory load, 25 yds, 1 shot high shoulder & spine + 1 finish shot to the neck.

2006 - doe, 109#, 325gr Gold Dot handload, 55 yds, dropped with 1 shot to the neck.

Guess I should be due to get one again this year.
Success is a journey, not a destination...  Might as well enjoy the ride!!

This year I am hoping to get all my deer using my handgun, as now in my area we can get 5 doe tags as well as the 1 buck tag.  So my goal is to try and up my current 2 by handgun to another 6.

Four in Mo., one in Wisconsin. Never kept any sort of records on the loads, back then? Most were with .44 magnum but the one in Wi. was with a .41 magnum. All have been with handloaded ammo, couldn't afford factory while raising children.

My count is a total of four.  All bucks, largest was an 8 pointer.  My weapon: a T/C Encore in 7.62x39 with 125 grain Corbon ballistic tips.  15" barrel with a Simmons 4x scope.  Probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Over 40 with various .44 magnums.  The first 15 or so were shot w/ JHP bullets, then I discovered hard cast lswc's and never looked back.  I took a 9 year break from the handguns when I moved to an area where rifles are allowed for deer hunting.  This year I'm getting back into it with a .357 magnum.

4 so far:
5 Pt with 357Max @ 60 yds
6 Pt with 7-30 Waters at 20 yds
Doe with 7-30 waters 110 yds
Nubbin with 6.5JDJ at 190 yds
All 1 shot kills.

This year I'm using a 375JDJ with the 6.5 as backup.

17.

My first was with a Super Blackhawk .44 mag. 15 with a S&W 624 and .44 spl handloads and one with a Hawes Western Marshal .44 mag loaded with my .44 spl handload.

Oh! I almost forgot, one with a .45 CVA Kentucky pistol sidelock, using a homecast 250 gn TC maxi-ball... that makes 18.

2 deer with a handgun so far:

1- 44 mag Lone Eagle @85 yds or so
1- 41 mag Blackhawk @40 yds or so

Hopefully if I can get one this year with my Accusport 45 bisley and cast boolits...that is if I don't cave in and use a muzzleloader again this year.

Well, best as I can remember, I think about 18-
2 with a .357 mag Smith 586 4 inch
1 with a Colt Gold Cup .45
15 more with an assortment of Ruger and S&W revolvers in 44 mag and 45 LC.  Most with 250-300 grn. cast, or the 300 grn XTP.

If I learned anything, deep thru and thru penetration with a relatively big bore bullet is the key to a reliable deer killer.

Somewhere around 12.  Most with a TC Encore, scoped, etc.  I've slowly worked my way to an iron-sighted wheelie gun.

I'm still waiting on my first!  This is my first year carrying a "hunting" handgun in the woods, a .44 Mag Super Blackhawk.  I had one in the sights this evening but it was a squirrely little yearling, not enough meat on it to make it worth butchering so I let it walk.  I'm finding that even when I have a rifle on my lap, the handgun is easier to bring to bear in the woods I've been hunting.

No deer with a handgun.

One 6 x 7 elk with a Ruger Bisley 44.

African impala with a 1911 45 ACP with 230 grainers.

Was with a fellow who took a kudu bull with a 10mm Auto using 200-grainers.

I took my biggest deer to date with a hand gun back in 2004.  I took a 140 class 9 point that dressed out at 244 lbs (PIG!) with my 35 Remington Contender.  I was actually late getting out of bed that day as my youngest boy was born the day before and I was at the hospital late.  Anyway, I was late getting out in the morning and on the way to my stand, still in my back yard I spotted the buck on the move with a group of does.  They were out 200-300 yds and heading my way so I decided to take cover and let them get closer.  My cover was to dive between my hot tub and my house as I was still in the back yard and sure enough those does brought that randy devil within 75 yds and I took him through the heart and lungs in one shot.  Kinda funny how things happen sometimes.

The next year, I lost a real nice one that I hit in the shoulder with my 357 mag.  I was shooting a real hot load, but it was too light of a bullet and it was a hollow point.  The deer dropped on the first hit and I had plenty of time to shoot him again, had my revolver not failed to advance the cylinder.  I had this buck on camera and he was a 12 pointer that went conservatively 170-180 class score.  I followed him for almost a mile and lost all blood.....  Use HEAVY non HP bullets on the 357 mag for white tails.

 I think 4 deer.

-a whitetail doe with a 4" Smith Model 10 .38, 158gr.lrn, deer ran 50yds. Double lung, thru and thru
-a whitetail doe, I think, same gun(or maybe a Taurus 80), 110gr Semi-jacketed HP, Remington, deer ran 50yds. Double lung. Bullet lodged in second lung. Great expansion
-this season, one spike and one doe, 4"Smith Model 28 .357, 158gr Semi-jacketed HP Remington, both deer ran about 40yds. Lungs, and both thru and thru.

Just shot my first- a doe at 42 yards with my Smith 686 6". I was off a little with my shot and hit the base of the neck-it dropped instantly. I used my handload of a 158 grain Hornady XTP and a max charge of H110. I'm hooked!
