for a 7-30 Waters and a trim length of 2.030 ???

I don't have a manual in front of me right now.  However, I would guess that 2.040 is the MAX case length and 2.030 is the Recommended Trim To length for that case.

GH

Chappy nailed it , the 2.040 is max case length from the SAAM specs and by trimming to 2.030 it allows room for the case to grow .

Does the neck touch the sides of the chamber
or is there room for expantion?

Wouldn't a longer neck
(say .0375 give some ogive (sp) straightness) if
you were not seating to the lands?

I know :-\ I'm thinking too much.

Thanks Guys
I trimmed them back and OAL
them to the manual
