Next week - I will get my "new flame" - a 629, 4", and hope that my 300 gr. Hard Cast/Vithavouri N110-20 gr. - will be accepted.
I`m so "tired" of the need of lot of different ammo in similar calibers  :(

rks1949, what is your velocity with this load, have you checked it?

IIRC, when I checked mine they were in the 1000-1100 fps range.

Steve,it could be the "difference between the 2400,and the H110? Also the max is at 22.0 grs. I tried that, and it shot much better, backing down .5grains. This load out of my SBH,will hit 4 inch clay pigeons at 100yds. all day long (good of me shooting) ;D Ron

rks1949, These were shot in my 629-4 Mountain Gun and I have no intention of loading this gun anywhere close to max for this bullet? I have a Redhawk for hotter stuff.

hello everyone, new guy here !   I have found that any Kieth  SWC at 950 mv, or above, in a 44 Mag. will work fine at handgun hunting ranges, as long as it is accurate and you can shoot it well.  Hi velocity  is not needed on deer, as i have killed 5 whitetail deer with a 45 ACP (1911) (5in. govt. mod.) none of these deer went over 50 ft. after being shot.    Greg Bayes

I can't testify to a whole lot of whitetails but last Sat my brother killed a 732 pound bull moose with my SBH at 58 yards with a hardcast 240 gr swc.  10 grns of unique over a federal large pistol primer.  One shot, one passthrough, one dead moose.  Distance traveled after the shot , about 65 feet.

"track record"

Hmmm :)

My experience is that I don`t have more problems with cast than other bullets.

"Next week - I will get my "new flame" - a 629, 4", and hope that my Mimek 300 gr. Hard Cast/Vithavouri N110-20 gr. - will be accepted."

And it did :)

"What kind of trouble?"

Can`t say that I have had any trouble about running long after the shot with either of them :)

Vithavouri N-110 and Hornady 200 XTP-HP's are incredibly accurate out of my Smith DX Classic 6.5" 44 mag and my Smith M-29 PC 44 mag. I picked up the M-29 this spring and shot groundhogs this summer using 180 grain bullets instead of 200 grain. My longest kill (yeah...bragging) shot was 100 yards, then 80 yards. This was with open sights.

The 44 mag is not as devastating as a .223 on the 'hogs as those bullets are not going 3400fps, but they will get the job done. I must say it has given me much needed practice on the "art" of squeezing the trigger....and not jerking the trigger. I'm sure that will help with the oncoming doe season.

That's right! ;) Their "track record" is that they perform as well,or better than other bullet types,on large,or thick skinned game. Their performance (even when hitting heavy bone) is very good, with the right charge of powder under them. I shoot one load for all the hunting I do with the BH. It might be a little over kill, for deer, but dead,is dead. Plus I don't have to constantly "re zero" the gun for diffrent loads, hunting diffrent game. One load does it all! Ron

Overkill?
What`s that  ????

Meat-damage?

I prefer to find the animal quickly - even that I have to cut away some meat  ;).

Last year in Africa - I was sure that I had found "THE BULLET" for animals up to 400 lbs.
454/Hornady 240 XTP-1900 fps - got all animals down within few yds.  :D

This year - with similar gun/loads - some fell down immidiately - but 70% run from 50-200 yds.

It`s like it have been for years:  A similar shot in a similar position will show different results - with hard cast and other types of bullets.

I like to take a "high" sholder shot on most large game, with heavy bullets. It also works well on deer too! Most DRT or stumble a few steps, and are down for good! Ron

"629, 4", and hope that my 300 gr. Hard Cast/Vithavouri N110-20 gr. - will be accepted."

Today I mounted the Crony, and got 1330 fps - and very good accuracy :D .
Out of my Ruger SRH, 7,5" - I get 1250 fps.
But I don`t think this will be S&W`s daily load  ;)
My elbow and shoulder still shakes  >:(

I don't know about YOUR gun ,but MY 44 SBH will not release the empties if I go above 19 grains of 2400. This is with a 240 grain jacketed bullet. Cast will go another half grain or so!!

With the new 2400(Aliant) I've used 21 grains with 240 grain hard cast bullets without problems of extaction or pressure? This in 3 S&Ws and my Redhawk. These go an average of 1350 fps. in all the guns I've tried them in. Definately hot but, no over pressure signs.
