I think the load you're looking for is from an older ALLIANT Guide, around 2001 or 2002. I can't find my books form then but seem to remember that load. My old (Hercules) books don't list it and my newer Alliant (2004-on) don't either. I'll look around again.

.45 Colt,
Yep, I found it. It was in a 2000 Reloaders Guide. Chamber presure is listed at 10,900 psi., I`ll bet that`s why it`s not in the newer manuals.

Good that you found it, I can't find my books from about '99 to '04.

10,900 is getting up there, but still below Max. Alliant has pulled some Blue Dot loads recently, but the only ones I'm aware of right now is in pistol loads. I've tried to get them to comment on shotshell and some selected pistol loads but no answer as yet. I still use quite a bit of it for heavy loads and haven't run into trouble --- yet.

Go to allients website they have a reloading calulator or at least did, that will help you build the load.

This load is not in their newer manuals eather, I would guess because of the pressure. I my load some and only put in 33 pellets, that would lower pressure some. It also uses the old wad columns instead of the new plastic wads.

Looking at a 2006 Hodgdon manual, all their 2 3/4" #4 loads are cut back too, to 27 pellets. They're using plastic, and pressures are relatively low.
