You guys need to lighten up...

Hoppe's has proven itself for years.

Heck, it makes a great cologne too!  Ladies
love it!!  ;)

Try kerosene or diesel fuel . a guy i work with said they used it in Iraq to clean weapons .
Then i read an article where in South America they use it on dove shoots because it cleand well and leaves a film to lube and protect . we use it to clean parts also , it works and is cheap !  well used to be !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I'll vote Hoppe's #9 as well. My .308 had a really bad coat of copper fouling once and I didn't want to wait for the repeated applications of Hoppe's to work so I used some Sweet's, but other than that one time It's all I've ever used.

As far as actions go I was taught years ago to store rifles muzzle down. The little puddle that forms under the muzzle bears witness to the effectiveness of the technique. It often takes months to form but form it does! This assuming of coarse that the bore is oiled.

I started using Marvel Mystery Oil( I already used it in my engines) when I read about it as a bore cleaner at a different forum.  Works great for both rimfire and centerfire bores.
