300whisper.  ;D

Ooohh for the sake of all that is holy  don't mention the 300 whisper and a suppressor in one sentence.  And beyond that don't make it available in a Contender from SSK.  There is a thread in the TC forum where GB mentioned the Contender as a sniper weapon  and I backed it by mentioning the use of a suppressor from SSK to go with it that was more than ill thought of by more of the uneducated.  ::)

What is wrong with people thinking they can make up their own minds as to what they want or need? ???

I studied long and hard to come up with the perfect combination of size, over all length, weight with a medium caliber of medium power best suited for white tail at 20- 200 yards.

This is it, in my opinion of course. An M4 configuration of a Bushmaster in 6.8 SPC. The pic shows a 27 round magazine. I use a ten round mag to make it more compact, not to please any onlookers.

I bought the gun last year and am looking forward to taking several deer with it. In Wisconsin, where I live and hunt there is no restriction on capacity or gun type, so I will exercise my right to use this rifle, with out fear of upsetting some thin skinned, spineless #*&*. There are not many of those people where I hunt anyway, they would probably be offended by my truck and knife and flannel shirt and hat and.........

Nice choice & I hope you have a safe & rewarding season.

Nice M-4orgery!  I thought about getting one, then decided I didn't need another 5.56...  So I been thinking about a 204 varmit upper to go on my match lower, then you post this and I start thinking how handi that would be in a deer stand, then 45-70.gov starts listing caliber options and I always thought that 50 beawolf was pretty cool and...  ???  and...  :-[  nevermind....  :(

Thanks for the information nomosendero. Guys I am sorry for hijacking the thread. I just could not help myself. DPMS makes an AR-15 in the 6.5 Creedmoore and from what I have read it is dong very well in competions. Here it is if anyone has an interest in it. Dale

Not a pure hijack so all is well and besides, I think my Colt needs a 6.5 Creedmore upper.

Mostly, Colts are the exception.  Sometimes the pin size is different but they make adapters for it.

As per the original topic, I'll go hunt with whatever I can and is adequate for the game taken.  I'll even hunt with a bigger caliber than necessary because either I want to or that is all I have with me at the time.  I shot a fox with my 30-06 once.  I guess if I had a 50 BMG during deer season and a nice buck walked out in front of me....hmmm.  Maybe not.  But I believe the AR platform to be well-suited to hunting and with it's versatility any type of game can be hunted with it.

the 6.5 Creedmore only works out of the much larger and more expensive AR10 type platform, essentially a scaled up AR15 that can handle 308 based cartridges.

On AR15's pretty much yes

On AR10's no this platform isn't standardized across manufacturers

DPMS is starting to help out w/ standardizing the AR10 platform, as their mags are currently being employed w/ the U.S. Militarys SASS rifle...

krochus, thanks for the clarification...I forget too often about those big AR10's...maybe I just need the 6.8SPC upper instead.  That, and a new DPMS in 6.5.

Hey Dale have you checked out Remington's AR the R25?  I want one in 308.

Yes I have and like them very much. From what I understand they are made by Bushmaster and that company in also part of Remington now. The 308 is a great choice but here in Pa we can't hunt anything with a semiauto firearm PERIOD. I myself would not mind owning one in the 7MM-08 or the 243 witch they do offer in the R-25. Dale

I know for a fact, that my Murdr-sickle actually does offend some people.

So, I think I will sell it as quickly as I can so not to continue upsetting people or it may be outlawed?

Now that sounds silly. I think I have just now, offended myself. ;)
