Newbie Question
« on: September 26, 2008, 02:24:16 PM »
Is there a difference in a Tracker & the Tracker II?  If so what is the difference?  Can a tracker have a rifled barrel put on it?

Thanks in advance.

The Tracker was a smoothbore slug gun and the Tracker II is a rifled bore slug gun.

Spanky answered your first two questions and possibly the third. If you are asking if the Tracker can have a rifled SHOTGUN barrel put on it? Yes. If you are asking if the Tracker can have a CENTER-FIRE RIFLE BARREL (.270, .30-.30, .308, .30-06, etc.) put on it? No.

They also don't make the tracker anymore. I think with the proper marketing and threaded for choke tubes they'd sell like hot cakes though.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

I was lucky enough to have one of the last Tracker I barrels factory fitted to my 20 Ga. TDC.  I then sent it out to be threaded for Carlson Tubes.  Ordered X-full Turkey, IC and Mod chokes - love it.  Works great on Deer, planning a Boar hunt with it next month and will be looking for a winter Turkey In North Carolina come January.

I think H&R could sell a ton of them.
