it looks like Kennedy and Nixon, Obama is a great public speaker, McCain looks stiff

McCain's handlers need to encourage him to get aggressive or loose his temper (in the right way).  He just looks.........old.

Obama is truly the master of replying without saying anything of substance.  Please, he is concerned about "Main Street" and how I am handling the high cost of gas?

I was at work so didn't see but about 5-10 minutes. From what I saw they both were just spewing forth their same campaign slogans.

Is that about how the rest went or did I miss anything?

Was the questioning fair or:
Senator Obama why are you so gifted...
Senator McCain why do you hate blacks and poor people - aren't you too old to be in touch...

I watched the entire debate.  McCain had much more convincing arguments in his favor to be President.  Obama did a bit better with potential voters with his line about making sure Main St America is quaranteed something from the bailout and with his lines to help middle class people.  McCain's explanation of why taxation is so important to small business was very accurate but probably will not go over well with voters due the financial meltdown.  But it is true today as it was yesteryear.  Obama was for government intervention into everything from health care to pre child education spending while McCain's approach was to limit government spending.  Those that benefit from government spending will vote Obams and those with businesses and employees that want to keep more of their paycheck will be better off voting McCain.  McCain's attacks on Obama were right on and had the junior Senator set back a little.  However the orator came back with rhetoric that said little but sounded like a lot.  The uninformed and uneducated voter will have said Obama won the debate, but the knowledgable voter was agreeably surprised that McCain did a fine job against Obama with more substance and credibility.

Lincoln vs Douglas, it must just be an American institution at this point.  Seriously, I think that this kind of thing has been going on since the Romans.  I read some of Cicero and Crassus' speeches one time and they were surprisingly modern.

My impression watching tonight was: Marketing.  It is all about Marketing now.  There is no substance.  I don't know if I would prefer Bob Dole and Al Gore with their "it's my turn to be POTUS" or McCain and Obama with their "visionary leadership".

I knew watching the debates would be a waste of time so I didnt.
Macain dont have the IQ of a mashed grape. You could give him a 100 point lead in this election and he would blow it. He is a lib of the worst sort. I would also think he is using Nobama's handlers or at least they are giving him advise from the way he has been running this campain or abortion however you want to look at it.
And then you have that thing Mccain is campaining for,  Nobama.
He looks like a 1958 cadilac with both front doors open.  You would have to spot him a few points to get his IQ in the positive. The sad part is, we as a nation.............  Briarpatch

I couldn't bring myself to watch the debate. Seeing and listening to Osama absolutely annoys me to no end.

Besides, there was a fantastic Brewer game last night!

I'm Alaskan and have been a supporter of Palin for years.  I sure hope she doesn't get rattled in the debate.  She is obviously very comfortable speaking Alaskan to Alaskans, but that is not the same as on the national level even though she debated very strongly against Frank Murkowski, a 20 year US Senator.  I think and hope that her absence from the media interviews and repeats of her acceptance speach at the convention, were just a slight of hand to decoy the opposition into underating her.  I sure hope that is the case.  If she comes out strong in the debate, then much of the undecideds, christians, and Hillary supporters will vote the McCain/Palin ticket.  It may not be enough to beat Obama but it could very well turn the tides and ensure his Presidency.

i hope so also ..but let the truth come out.. we don t want an person  who can t control herself with thier finger on the red buttom of destruction..
i still don t like the idea of an good debator being chosen because he or she can convincingly ,,state thier case.. it eliminates too many doers who are not that great with the spoken word..in my opinion not a good way to rate an president..
i guess id rather just judge them by thier record.. if theres any way to know thier real record..

I can't believe anyone would be swayed by a debate.  I could have told you 20 years ago who I'd be voting for.  That would be whoever the Republican canidate is.
