Deer season is here
« on: September 26, 2008, 04:30:20 PM »
As much as I enjoy reading about hunting I enjoy hunting even more. Tomorrow starts bow season in Texas and rifle season on the MLD land where I hunt. I am at deer camp, the temperature is 68 degrees and is suppose to be 59 in the morning, fired a few fouling rounds through the rifle this afternoon, and the scope sighting hasn't changed since last time I went to the range (last month). It's also been great catching up with the guys and swapping a few stories.

Hopefully by this time tomorrow I will have venison hanging, but if not I will still be glad to be here instead of the city.

Oh yeah!  If you are like me you would rather hunt than eat.  Don't forget to eat. I amcounting the days until Oct 23rd when I get to go to SC for 10 days.  Sleep is the least of my worries.

Ohio bow season started today. Weather wet and rainy in the AM, very warm though. Saw no deer but my buddy spooked one as he got in his stand, it was between him and me and we both heard it snort, stamp the ground, etc. Result was no deer this AM, lots of sign though. We will be back!

We are somewhat south of Stark in Jefferson Co.  There's a good population of deer all over this part of the state, you should have good hunting in Stark. Is it a private property or public state lands? Deer tend to get more skittish on the state property but they are there.

Land_owner, Don't worry I never forget to eat.

Didn't see any deer, but got a 90lb pig. Oh well, the wife prefers the pork to venison anyway so she's happy.
