Ron Paul: Greenspan, Bernanke Should Be Criminally Charged

Congressman says civil unrest after meltdown could lead to martial law

Paul Joseph Watson

Congressman Ron Paul says that the bailout bill is likely to pass, heralding a 10-year plus economic depression for America and the potential for martial law should civil unrest arise as the financial meltdown worsens.

Speaking on The Alex Jones Show, Paul said of the bailout, “They want dictatorship, they want to pass all the penalties and suffering on to the average person on Main Street,” adding, “We will have a depression or recession, it’s locked in place due to previous Federal Reserve actions.”

“When they say that if we don’t do exactly as they say and turn over more of our money and more of our liberties and exempt themselves from any court in the whole nation, they’re trying to intimidate us and lead us into doing the wrong thing,” said Paul.

The Congressman added that serious problems would arise if nothing was done to address the problem, but that more serious consequences would follow should the bailout be passed.

Paul warned that the only question was whether the meltdown would last one year or ten years and how much liberty would be lost in that time frame.

“It looks like from I see in Congress, that they’re opting for a decade plus of depression rather than saying let’s correct our ways, let’s balance the budget, let’s bring our troops home,” said Paul, adding that the same course of printing money would continue - prolonging the agony and preventing a necessary correction.

Asked if civil unrest was a possibility in the midst of an economic depression, referencing a recent Army Times report concerning the use of active duty military being brought back from Iraq for “Homeland patrols” and “crowd control,” Paul questioned, “Are we going to have martial law or are we going to have more freedoms? The more problems that we have, the more likely it is that we’re going to have martial law, so I do think they anticipate and they plan for these things.”

Asked if criminal investigations and prosecutions of individuals on Wall Street should commence, Paul agreed but said that the main target of criminal inquiry should be the Federal Reserve board itself because, “That’s where the fraud is.”

“They want to be lawless, they don’t want to be held accountable,” he added.

Paul said that grand juries should be convened to take on prosecutions rather than the FBI becoming involved, stating, “We have proper authority with that and experience with it and the Enron case is a good example.”

The Congressman said that Greenspan and Bernanke should be criminally charged but that such an effort would be largely symbolic. “Morally speaking, they’re the culprits,” said Paul.

Asked what his solution to the crisis would be, Paul said, “I think the most important thing to do is to send the message that we’re going to quit living beyond our means and the president can set the standard for that and he has the most control under the Constitution on foreign policy - he can say no more wars, we’re done with the wars, we’re not going to take on the Russians, we’re not going to take on people in Venezuela, we’re going to start talking to the Cubans and bring our troops home and save hundreds of billions of dollars - that would send a powerful message that the dollar would respond to and oil prices would come down.”

Paul said that Americans had to accept a new idea of government that harked back to what the founders envisaged and that the welfare state would have to unravel along with aspirations of building a geopolitical empire.

“In the meantime the policy ought to be - shrink the size of government, decrease regulation, work towards sound money, remove the authority of the Fed to create money out of thin air and get tax reduction,” stated the Congressman. Paul added that eliminating the income tax would mean everybody becoming a lot richer and more money would be ploughed into the economy.

“It will not solve the problem, it just delays the inevitable,” said Paul of the bailout, adding that he expects the bill to pass in a move that would, “Defy the American people.”

“I think they get to the point where they think they’re like God and can control everything and they don’t realize that the market really is more powerful than all the bankers and all the politicians….Ultimately the underground economy is the real economy and I think they could over step themselves and hopefully we could come out with a better world afterwards,” concluded the Congressman.

This is why I disagree with Paul and his party.  Whether or not there was justification for invasion of Iraq, the US cannot afford to lose this conflict in the middle East.  Should we retreat, Iran and radical terrorists will be emboldened to further atrocities and increased moral support by Muslim populations.  Regardless of what political policy is touted by Paul, make no doubt, the Muslim extremists and Armadjenihad will not stop their atagonism of the US and its allies, including Israel.  Muslim extemists and communistic dictators have allied themselves to bring down the capitalistic governments and democratic governments of the western world.  I include Chavez and other dictatorial leaders in this statement.  If one doesn't believe these statements, all they have to do is read the UN transcript of Armadjenihad's remarks there.  We are seeing Muslim extremists all over the middle east and Africa engaged in violent overthrow of governments there.  Look at Somalia, Kenya and Sudan.  There is a religious Muslim uprising throughout the world in Malaysia, Pakistan and in Indonesia.  Where is the peace, when these religious extemists continue to fight against Americans and democratic governments, until the Religion controls all governments.  Does anyone believe that Al Quida, Taliban, or any other extremist Muslim group will cease, just because we retreated from Iraq or that they will stop any terrorism against Americans because we left?  If you do, then you know nothing of history, world religions, and ethnic prejudices.  Today, I see the Muslim movement akin to the Mohammadan movement during the middle ages.  It will not cease until the rest of the world forces them to stop.

I'm a person who believes in the honor of the individual person, not their religion.  However, I'm in the minority, world wide.  Most peoples of the world still believe in organized religion first before family, personal convictions, and social government.  The Muslim religion's tenet is that everyone who is not Muslim is an infidel and it is the Muslims who must change the world to incorporate their religion on everyone.  I, too, have a very good Muslim friend in Anchorage, whom I've known for over 20 years.  He jokes about being a "Jack Muslim", since he drinks like a fish, doesn't often attend Muslim services and is extremely intelligent, although extremely liberal.  We don't discuss politics much, yet on occasion I've had the opportunity to get his views since the first gulf war.  He has related that there are Muslims in Anchorage, who cheered when the world trade center fell, cried during the first defeat of Iraq, lamented the invasion and downfall of the Taliban and absolutely love Obama for his background.  I asked if this was the norm or the exception.  He told me that it was more than 50% of the thinking of Muslims he knows.  He too told me, he liked Obama, but for his politics and not his ethnic or religious background.  I try not to see him too much during Presidential elections, as I'm very conservative and sometimes our discussions can get heated.  I don't like to antagonize him, so avoid seeing him while in town at these times.  I still stand behind my previous posts.

Unlike some, I still believe that Muslim extremists brought the WTC to ruin.  Paul adovocates retreat with the troops from Iraq and save the money spent on the war.  He further advocates no wars, thus saving more money.  What was the expense of terrorists acts on the American people and stock market immediately after the WTC was demolished?  The Dow dropped over 2500 points in one day.  What was the cost to American lives, families and economic livelyhoods?  Immense, when one considers both.  By an isolationist policy, Americans invite more terrorists actions, lives lost, and economic meltdown again.  So a few dollars are saved, but at what expense not yet detemined?  What will be the expense, when not if, we have to fight these terrorists on our own soil within the populace?   Do we permit further atrocities and then react to the situation?  Hell, most posters here believe the President during his watch, did not act or anticipate the results of the financial crisis prior to the meltdown.  Just when is he correct in his action, non action policies with the American people.  It seems to me that some just b**ch about anything they can to gain attention, without any suggestions for resolution.  The suggestions they do provide, do not account for repercussions that must be taken into account.  For every action there is and opposite and equal reaction.  That is true in politics as it is in physics.

Deltecs....

Ever read the book The Elements of Power by Col Andrew Basevisch....or something like that?

....TM7

No, but I have read Orwell's 1984 and that wasn't true either.  I stongly recommend Alvin Toffler's The Third Wave, as it explains much of societies changes from one economic base to another.  The world is in a technological economic and energy changes with the resultant societal changes effected by them.  I look at a different picture as to how and why our world and especially the US is changing governmentally and socially.  I don't think the socialism point of view is desirable or effective.  I don't think government's largess is desirable or effective.  I do think there are more subtle influences that are affecting our way of life than any one book or man can possibly recognize nor understand completely.  If he did, he would have a perfect selection on all stocks that would increase, without having a stock drop at any time with a loss.  Just look at Paul.  He predicted the bailout would pass, he was wrong today too.

I will let you guys debate wether or not Muslims are bad, I think you all know my opinion on the matter.  I am a Ron Paul fan, and I find it funny that during the Republican debates he was practically attempting to tell the whole world of the corruption in our Gov and laying out what was going to happen with our economy.  Now I see why the Media wouldn't let him talk.  HE WAS RIGHT!!!!!  I would say that maybe people would start to listen to him now, but I don't have that much faith in the American mentality anymore.

I've spent some time in the Muslim world.  I spent my first 14 years in Indonesia, as my parents were missionaries there.  When I was 21 I spent nine months in Peshawar, Pakistan, teaching English.  Based largely upon those two experiences I would classify most Muslims as peaceful.  For the most part they just want to live their lives like we want to live ours.  If we were policed by them in the same way we police them we would be rather aggressive in opposition too.

Yes, it's true that they have "killing the infidels" as their motto, so to speak.  But, I don't believe that the majority really believe that.  Furthermore, I think there's probably ample evidence to show that much of the warring and terrorism done around the world is more the result of organized crime (covert government operations) than people simply not liking each other and killing each other.

I'm all for pulling the troops.  This one thing I absolutely can't stand about Americans is the fact that we want to be protected from any possible attack at the expense of our naivety over our government's extensive effort to undermine our liberties towards a NWO.  We are actually stupid enough to think that if we allow the government to expand and gain more power that they will indeed protect us.  Never before has that happened, and never will it either.  Big government always leads to tyranny over the people.  I would rather deal with the Muslim problem head on on my doorstep than to tolerate the pretense of Big Brother watching over me while the whole time trying to sneak in my back door to undermine my ability to protect myself and live my life.

There's gonna be problems in this world no matter what.  War will come to the US one way or another.  I would simply rather it be on my terms than on the government's terms when so many of its leaders are members of disgusting, filthy, and intrusive secret societies that have the primary agenda of working together to dissolve American sovereignty.

But as to the original topic, I wholly support Mr. Paul in his desire to bring the troops home, reduce government, eliminate fraudulent banking (starting with our monopoly money), and punish those who have been actively working to bring this about.  Of course, you'll never get the real culprits, as they are protected.  They're names aren't Bernanke or Greenspan, but are more along the lines of Rothschild and Rockefeller.
