Ruger 44 Carbine and BIG cast bullets!
« on: August 04, 2003, 04:52:08 PM »
Does anyone here know what is largest cast bullet, LBT style, that will reliably feed from the Ruger 44 Carbine or Deerfield?  I realize that the guns are gas operated and the lead bullets can cause trouble, but they would be gas checked to alleviate this problem.  The main thing I'm looking to find out is the max OAL allowable with these rifles and if they will reliably feed the LBT bullet styles.

I would be concerned with not just lead getting into the gas port but with bullet lubricant being forced into the port. Its probably impossible to get out of the ports if this happens.
I only shoot jacketed bullets from both of my Ruger 44 autoloaders.
Best bet would be to call Ruger.
