I saw a set of size forming dies that change a 45/70 down to 33caliber.With the big head on a 45/70 and a 33cal bullet why would'nt it work on a contender?Where do I get balistics info? What do you guys think.SGB :gulp:

The 33 winchester is listed in the Hornady manual.  They only list it with a 200gr flatpoint which they show maxing out at 2200 fps out of a 24" barrel.  In my mind if you were going through the trouble of resizing cases and having a barrel special made, you might as well go up to the .338/.444 (.338 JDJ #2).

The load they show is pretty anemic, so i suspect it would be fine in a contender, but I am certainly no expert.  If thats what tickles your fancy I say go for it, but I wouldn't bother with it.
