NEXT TIME! :D ::) or maybe the NEXT TIME, or maybe the NEXT TIME!............ ::)
NEXT TIME! Everyone will do what they did THIS TIME! Vote the lessor of two evils, and swear their way is the best way, while name calling, and making condesending remarks to any whom disagree with them. The candidates will "continue to get worse "NEXT TIME!

Me too Heather, but as long as everyone continues to vote they way they are told (one of the TWO PARTIES), I believe we will be allowed to continue to vote. Blind loyalty to a failed concept has one thing in it's favor. It usually stays blind, and beats down the opposition to it's own failure.

I guess I've got a lot more confidence in this country's ability to withstand hard times than some of you, but then, maybe I've been around a bit longer.  We'll survive and America will survive--even if the commie gets elected.  The pendulum swings both ways and as horid as the thought is that Osama might be elected, it might be the catalyst that would bring on a wide swing to the right.

A President can only do so much, especially if Congress and the Supreme Court don't get too far out of balance.  I think our founders put a lot of thought into the make up of our government and it has withstood the test of time.  Our founder's wisdom is about to be tested once again.  I'm betting we'll be okay, but the road is getting kind of bumpy.

NOW MAGOOCH! You have said something that I am in complete agreement with. Congress and the Senate have PANICKED and voted to bail out Wall Street. Neither Republican nor Democrat are competent.
The American voter needs to stop panicking and vote for what is right. The buck stops with the people, and the people will have to sacrifice if they want a clean slate to start over. It not only must happen, it WILL happen whether anyone wants it to or not.

Yes, but Congress is too far out of balance. Obama & a Socialist Demoncrap Congress can do harm like never before. This does not mean that I am going to scream that everyone has to vote for McCain, deal with the situation in the way
that you think is best. It's just a bad situation, which no one can solve for now at least. My choice is to vote for Palin
& yes, I know that that she is not running for Pres. I doubt McCain dies in his first term, but Palin could likely be the 2nd. However, McCain voting for the bailout was a setback for me & it is a matter of record that McCain warned about FM & FM & tried to introduce leg. to block it, but you know what, he voted for it now, which was really stupid. Not only that, but if he had even told the people about the pork & said he would vote on a bill with the pork out, say 400Billion or less, I would have at thought he tried & no I would not like that bill either, but he would have shown some care, but noooooo. Again, I did not want any bill, but it was a mind blower that he jest bought in to it. So, I am amazed. It makes me staying with my choice a little less than 100% now. But Mr. Paul is not in the race & I don't like Barr, so it's a rough situation.

As far as Americans being able to handle a deep Depression, I don't think so, at least not in mass. In 1929, most folks were Rural & knew how to grow crops, can & have livestock & had a few acres. Now most people are Urban or Suburban & don't know how to grow their own food. And another biggie is the the Moral makeup is not the same. I don't see people in the cities willing to just be in a breadline & work any job for a buck or 2. Many feel entitled & have no scrupples & their will be killing in the streets to  TAKE whatever they want, I believe we will have anarcy.
The irony of this is that the areas where the Libs live & the Libs themselves likely will suffer the most.
This whole thing is one of those things I would like to be wrong about.

Vote out every one in washington and this crap will stop. Is your attention span that long? It is pretty obvious that as a population the U.S. does not have a very long attention span. In 3 months people will have forgotten the bail out and they are counting on that.

It saddens me to say this, but I couldn't agree more.

It is unfortunate that I think you are correct.  However, maybe a little anarchy along with starvation and civil unrest will twist the heads of those survivors to understand capitalism and hard working frugal Americans with the resultant demands on Congress for conservative spending in government.  But after I lost my head and realized it will be a more liberal Congress elected to bail them out and spend more, so they will be able to eat and housing free.  I guess TM was partially correct about me, when he said, I thought most people were evil, his word not mine.  I don't think it is evil to understand herd mentality, but common sense dictates the same mistakes as happened in the Great Depression.  The conservatives were to blame for the bank runs during an incumbent office and the greater good liberals saved them with government programs.  So too, it will happen again if the meltdown continues the downward spiral.  However, there may be fewer liberals voting by the time the economy is stabe again.  So goes the gene pool.
