what subspecies is in Northeast Nebraska?
« on: October 01, 2008, 09:20:59 AM »
I'm planning a turkey hunt and I normally kill Eastern birds. I have the chance to hunt Northeast Nebraska right on the boarder of South Dakota and Iowa. I was wondering what kind of birds they have there as I was looking for something other than a Eastern bird for mounting purposes?

Thanks

My hunting buddy hunted one of the Reservations in NE Neb. that was supposed to have Merriam turkeys.   What he found was  Eastern/ Merriam cross turkeys with tan highlights on the feathers rather than the white of the Merriams.
