scope mounts
« on: October 02, 2008, 04:47:15 AM »
just got a muzzleloader with tc scope and mounts. I have a set of Leupold mounts and a base to fit it so should I swap before sight in or are tc mounts as good. I trust Leupold but not sure about these mounts so what do you think??
Thanks,

I would use the T/C mounts.

I have leupold DD mounts and rings on my 3 encore rifle barrels and Leupold QR base and rings on my muzzleloader barrel so I can swap my VXII 3X9 for open sights or 1X to meet Utah muzzleloader regs. Never had a problem so I vote Leupold!

To be honest never tried any others so I'm not claiming ones better than the other! Over 40 years I've only had Leupold on all kinds and calibers and different types of guns so if it's not broke why fix it?

Good Luck

Okie-
I also have Leupold QR base and rings on my Prohunter muzzleloader. I have not experienced a problem with this setup. As a side note, I contacted Leupold just yesterday regarding another setup I'm putting together and they do not recommend using Loctite with their products since they use Torx hardware. The torx screws should be torqued at 20-23 lbs. That's what I was told by their tech support. Good luck with your new setup!

Try the Leo DD mounts or the one piece Tally mounts.
