.357 Magnum loads - 158 and 180 gr.
« on: October 02, 2008, 08:22:47 AM »
I'm loading shells for a good friend for his New Model Ruger Blackhawk .357 Magnum.  I don't have experience with this cartridge, unless .357 Maximum in and Encore counts.  I'll be using 158 gr. RNFP PB cast boolits and RNFP 180 gr. GC boolits dropped from a SAECO #354 mould.  Any suggestions for loads are appreciated, I have Unique, Blue Dot, Bullseye, H110, and AA#9 that would be suitable for the magnum.  Thanks for the help!

Bullseye and unique both work well for the 158s and the H110 is what I use for my 180s, FN hardcast at 180gr are my favorite hunting load,  I pretty much use a max load of H110 and the penitration is awsume.

These 2 loads work well in both my revolver's and my singleshot rifle .

158g cast = 5.5g Unique @ just under 1000 fps

180g cast = 14g 2400 @ just over 1100 fps

Both loads use a CCI small pistol primer .
