I'm thinking it's the same gun made by Baikal with the Savage name stamped on it. I have a Baikal 20ga SxS and its a fairly nice gun for cheap--selective trigger--choke tubes---and ejectors.

It is the new Stevens by Savage Model 411 Upland Sporter. You can find pictures by going to www.savagearms.com , then click on the model 411 upland sporter in the "Whats New" category on the left side oh the home page

I suppose they just can't make a quality American sxs that is affordable anymore.  I guess the Russian Savage will just make the old American made Savage sxs that much more of a collectible item.  Everyone is going for the cheap overseas labor.  I think Ruger does make a Gold Label sxs that runs about 2k.
The intruder turns around slowly, sees both barrels, and hears a low-deep voice say "Son, the left one's iron and the right one's steel, if the left one don't get you, the right one will"

Sadly, if they ever get here it might be the one and only foreign firearm I buy. I'd rather see made in the USA for a few hundred bucks more but 2K for a Ruger sxs OUCH!

Sorry Animal, I'm a lefty too and I just found out that ALL the Savage 411'a will have a stock cast off for right handed shooters ONLY.

Which is too bad becasue I was going to buy one too.  I will NOT now.  I found out that all the BAIKAL shotguns come with a cast off too.

I guess I'll stick with my 870, and keep borrowing my fathers nice side by sides.

Take a look at the Stoeger SXS guns. Pretty nice for the money. I've owned two a  28 and now a 20 ga. Well worth the small price they charge for them. I think full retail is only a wee bit over $300.

Thanks for the tip Greybeard, I checked out their website and they look good.  Does your shotgun have a strait stock?  None of the gunshops carry them in my area so I would have to just order one blind.  For the money, it sounds like you cant go wrong.  An inexpensive shotgun that can handle steel shot, is useful.  I also have a Rem 870, 1100, but rowing thru a choppy saltwater marsh to a duck blind and getting a nice shotgun wet with saltwater does not give me a good feeling.

Yes mine has the straight grip stock but you can get them both ways with and without a pistol grip. The Upland Special is the one I have with straight grip.

Solid gun at good price. Was a little rough opening when I got it. The 28 ga. really wasn't. So I put some JB Bore Paste on the lug and worked the action 100 or so times and it smoothed right up nicely but is still tight as can be when locked. Just used a spray cleaner to remove the JB and lubed it back up.

I had a 411 in my hands this last week end. It is an economy firearm. I'll judge it as such. The wood work was very light in color. The fit etc. was not very impressive. The rib did not seem high enough for my likeing. It is still on the rack.

Well Here's my  :money: . If you want an economy double hit the dealers racks or  go to a gun show and pick up a used Stevens (Savage) 311, American made, and will actually go up in value the longer you own it. You can't ask for a better deal.
